This round dish is ideal for casseroles, stews, roasting and perfect for preparing soups and rice dishes, even for baking bread or cakes. The cast iron casserole is the essential kitchen classic from Le Creuset, suitable for all heat sources.
Fired at temperatures of 840 degrees Celsius, the smooth enamel finish of Le Creuset cast iron is durable and hygienic. This means that everything you stew, braise or simmer in a Le Creuset piece will taste just as good as you intended. It also means your dishes will keep looking good from the hob to the oven and from the oven to the table.
About Le Creuset
A lifetime spent crafting the finest cookware. Le Creuset has been making superb, award winning cookware since 1925 and the secret recipe of ingredients remains the same today. Each piece is made from a unique mould into which molten iron is poured from a large cauldron (called a creuset). This creates a unique piece, each with its own identity and style. The piece is then hand finished and subjected to strict quality checks. Finally the cast iron is enamelled at extremely high temperatures to create the vibrant lustre and hard finish which looks great in the home.
Cast Iron Facts
Suitable for use in the oven, on the hob and under the grill. Cast iron can also be used on all heat sources, including Aga's and induction hobs. It can withstand temperatures up to 190 degrees Celsius. Its excellent heat retention qualities mean that only low to medium heat is needed to ensure even heat distribution.
The enamel cooking surface is completely hygienic and impervious to flavours, odours and acid attack. It is perfect to hold foods that are marinating or for storing foods (raw or cooked) in the refrigerator or freezer.
Ceramic, halogen or induction hobs, gas, electric, solid fuel or Aga/Rayburn Le Creuset cast iron will work excellently on all. Whether you are sauteing, grilling, baking, roasting or stewing there is a pot, pan or dish to suit your needs. Le Creuset cookware is available in a wide range of colours that will suit both your kitchen and dining table.
Once hot you will require only a low to medium heat setting to maintain a good cooking performance. You can even remove it from the heat, leaving the food to cook in its own heat. This excellent heat retention means that a Le Creuset dish will keep warm for longer at the table.
Care and Use:
Before first use: remove all labels. Wash the pan in hot soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly. Pans with enamelled cooking surfaces are now ready for use and require no further preparation. For detailed information on heat sources, how to cook with and get the best from your Le Creuset Cast Iron and how to care for your chosen product, please consult our comprehensive Care and Use Guide located inside the box.

I was so delighted with it, I bought my dog one as well
He has started showing quite an interest in cooking and so I thought it only fair for him to have his own kit.
Donald now makes me my tea 3 times a week and I'm slowly getting used to Lassie meaty chunks
I genuinely love Le Creuset products and so does Donald
I find this range to be incredibly hard wearing. I know you can put these in the dishwasher, but to be honest, I never have, as I prefer to wash them straight afterwards and put away. They wash brilliantly even if you have got stuff stuck on the bottom. However, my top tip, if you find them with stuff stuck on the bottom, put them back on the hob with a bit of boiling water and salt and boil for a few minutes and then wash as usual, voila, burnt bits removed. I always highly recommend the brands pots and pans cleaner as well, as it gets off any stubborn stains on the outside of your dishes, leaving them pristine again.
I never use metal utensils with my Le Creuset, and in fact now a days only ever use my Le Creuset sillicone tools with my collection.
Some will say this range is expensive, but I think about the year on year costs. These things are coming with a lifetime warranty (2 years on their non stick items,) but even if they only lasted me 10 years, you work it out, they actually are quite good buys.
There is no getting away from it, they are all heavy items, heavier once filled with food. They are therefore not that great if you have issues with lifting and I wouldn't recommend them.
They save on utility bills, I find with my collection due to the cast iron retaining the heat, you don't need to have the hob, or the oven as high as you would with other makes.
All in all, every review I have done for this brand (and they aren't paying me) has been more than complimentary. I would never use another brand now and am a definate convert. Even my utensil pot and oven gloves are Le Creuset!!!!!
