A kitchen essential, the three piece saucepan set contains 16 cm Saucepan, 18 cm Saucepan and 20 cm Saucepan with lids.
The Le Creuset three ply Stainless Steel range is made using the multi layering technology where stainless steel and aluminium are bonded together to form the special three ply material. A core of aluminium is sandwiched between two layers of premium grade stainless steel cleverly combining the cooking benefits of both materials. The aluminium stretches from base to rim, meaning heat spreads evenly and gently throughout the entire pan - not just the base.
Professional style cast handles are attached with stainless steel rivets, secure fixing and the addition of helper handles makes lifting easier. Close fitting lids retain moisture and heat for efficient and nutritious cooking in the casserole and saucepans, other thoughtful touches include capacity markings and an all round pouring rim. Suitable for use on all hob types including induction, oven and grill safe.

I particularly like the attention to detail - the pouring edge is exactly right; the handles are comfortable; and the pans are well balanced which disguises their weight (they are not "heavy" but weigh more than the capsule base and non-stick alternatives).
I have a couple of comments - not quite criticisms but something you should be aware of...
- The short helper handles and the lid handles do get hotter than you might expect so you need to keep a cloth to hand.
- The volume markings inside the pan are only inked on the surface and if you use an abrasive scourer you will scratch them away (as I discovered after a couple of days). So use a non-stick scourer and a bit more elbow grease if you want to keep the insides shiny. It would be better if the markings were etched, because part of the advantage of a stainless steel pan is that you should be able to treat them a bit rougher without damaging them. The same applies to the exterior finish - it is elegantly brushed at the factory but if you scour them you will lose that effect.
- The insides of all my pans have a "rainbow" discolouration already, and I've been careful not to overheat them. It affects the appearance but not the performance.
I haven't made much use of the non-stick frypan but each time it has performed perfectly, even without fat, and so far there are no signs of damage to the coating. It is also nicely shaped with a curved side and a good size for a 3-egg omelette and family cooking.
I would also recommend getting the 20cm 3ply steamer for the large casserole pan. Silicone utensils are a must on all pans.
The lids won't retain water in the inside lip as most conventional lids do when used in a dishwasher. the handles on both the lids and the saucepans are riveted, made to last a lifetime. I purchased mine because of a hob change and needed saucepans which were suitable for ceramic induction. These saucepans will cook on anything.
I've already ordered an omelette saucepan and a casserole.
The best saucepans in the world? I think so!
My step daughter hit the nail on the head when she said that using quality equipment makes the job easier and more enjoyable and in the case of these pans she was spot on.
A nice range of sizes and I find I end up using the smaller pots instead of saucepans as can go from hob to oven to keep things hot for later.
Lids are all great, well designed and little content running down the pot sides (not making a mess)
When buying the set a considerable saving is made over individual items.
The set is not available in the UK from Le Creuset and comes from Germany. Don't let this put you off as the delivery was speedy.
Only downside is a little discolouration in the bottom of the pans after use but this is normal and is mentioned the the care instructions.
I have bought other items from the range and will buy more in the future.

They were well packaged and arrived promptly as is usually the case with anything purchased from Amazon. They cook very well, and on low heat most of the time. There is a 'however' here though - the largest pan (20cm) and the mid pan (18cm) have both become discoloured and marked inside. The smaller of the two, I was advised by Le Creuset to wipe with lemon juice and sure enough the marking disappeared. The largest pan though, appears to be getting worse. I've contacted Le Creuset who want to inspect the pan (I did send them digital images of them). I've stuck RIGIDLY to the recommendations of how to use and clean these pans, going as far as to purchase a new set of cooking utensils also.
Away from this problem though, I think these pans are very good, albeit expensive - and they ARE expensive at £169.00. I hope they last until I die!
