If you want to write a basic custom website or just want an introduction to HTML and you have a few hours to spare then this book is a great place to start.

This is the first HTML book I have used and from it I was able to write a tidy and comprehensive site with everything graphically where I wanted it to be and working without any problems in under a week.

The book could be pitched at the complete beginner but there is plenty of content to have a play with and get your imagination going.

The book style is easily accessible and the format easy to read, being a good balance of: written explanation, working code example and expected HTML result. Each topic is worked through in a numbered step by step approach and the use of colour really helps.

Each chapter leads nicely into the next, so key concepts like: CSS, layout, Java etc are introduced and explained in a logical sequence but you can still jump through the book to chapters that interest you with out a problem.

Part text book part reference the best way to get the most out of this book I found was to just jump in and get writing after having had a quick read through.

As an introduction to HTML this book is nice to read, straight forward and fun as well as being excellent value for money that's why I'm giving it 5 stars

this is a good book, covers important things, goes through the language of websites (using the terminology etc) on how to craft your very own website from scratch. the only thing is that now-a-days there are so many other simpler methods, that creating a site in this way is fast becoming a thing of the past. at the time i purchased it i was in the dark about this stuff but since buying it i've come across webplus and other 'design you your own website' software which cuts out the need to understand html language and all that complicated stuff. don't get me wrong, its not rubbish, i guess at least i can refer to it if i'm isolated on an island one day in desperate need of creating a website, but at the moment i'm actually thinking of re-selling. it will help you if your doing a course at college or university to do with IT and website creation etc, otherwise there are easier ways now-a-days to create websites without the need of books like this.

A good well written and informative book HTML5 and CSS3. However! The text in the example screen shots is rather small. If Dreamweaver is being used in conjunction with this book, and the Dreamweaver software is not up to date it may not work with HTML5 and CSS3
