This album contains very little of the evocative music from the film. This is music INSPIRED by the film (the reviewer above thought they were listening to the original soundtrack, despite the title of this one.) I mean, come on, do YOU remember Billy Idol in the film? Well check the listing for this abysmal offering!

The only track on this album from the movie is the Stereophonics song that plays during the end credits. If you want the orchestral movie soundtrack this is the wrong album for that; you should get the L.A. Crash album by Mark Isham Crash.

If, like me, you were left with tingles down your spine, or indeed puffy eyes, after watching this wonderful film, then you won't be disappointed with this soundtrack.
It contains music from all of the evocotive scenes.
My ultimate favorites include Bird York's stunning In Deep, Safe Now, and No Such Things as Monsters.

HASH(0x9d14e69c) out of 5 stars Buyer Beware - Packaging Deceptive 21 Feb. 2006
By S. Wedeen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I'm listening to this CD for the third time since I bought it this past weekend, trying to figure out why it is not what I remembered from the movie. The music is OK, although not exactly my taste. However I kept asking myself why did I like the music from the movie so much when this doesn't do much for me. Was it merely the context of a GREAT movie? From an Amazon search, I realized that there are two different (but visually very similar...same graphics, different photo) Crash (the movie) CD's... the actual Soundtrack and the "music inspired by". Whereas I have no criticism of the music itself, the packaging is extremely deceptive, and irresponsible. I will buy the "real" soundtrack and probably never listen to this again. ($15 wasted). I would also have to comment that the "inspiration" referred to on the cover is also a serious stretch of the truth. This is a pop-hip-hoppish album whereas the actual soundtrack is a Mark Isham piece... very different. And, the cover says "music from and inspired by".. which is only true on a technicality. There is only one song on this CD that is on the soundtrack. To those who knew what they were buying and like this music, more power to you. But I would imagine that I'm not alone in mistaking this CD for the actual soundtrack, as it was the only only Crash CD in the soundtrack section of my local Borders. I would encourage record labels to differentiate the graphics on two very different CD's so that consumers get what they expected. Confusion like this doesn't serve either audience.

HASH(0x9d14e6f0) out of 5 stars AWESOME DISC - COOL CONCEPT 11 Jun. 2005
By Vic G - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I loved the movie and the music in Crash. This CD is an amazing collection of songs from the movie and inspired by the film. Normally, "inspired by" albums are just songs misplaced in some random compilation. However, the music here really feels like it has a connection to the storylines and mood of the film. I was particularly impressed with the fact that there are no gaps between the songs and multiple genres play in sequence seamlessly. Very cool concept!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Once people discover this CD it will become the "Garden State" of 2005.

HASH(0x9b33b5e8) out of 5 stars Past reviewers...look at the title of the CD more closely 12 Sept. 2005
By Jeremy P. Durand - Published on Amazon.com

THIS IS NOT THE MOVIE SOUNDTRACK!!!

There are some songs from the movie here but there are also songs "inspired" by the movie (similar to BT's CD of songs inspired by the movie Monster).

Don't ding the CD because you had wrong expectations or couldn't comprehend its intent.

If you want the soundtrack, go buy the soundtrack.

Sheesh!
HASH(0x9d14e978) out of 5 stars This cd contains the great soundtrack song "If I" which is NOT on the other official soundtrack cd! 10 Sept. 2013

This psuedo soundtrack cd has some music from the movie and some not from the movie. It's all great stuff, though. My favorite track is "If I" by KansasCali. It IS from the film (I believe it played during the ending credits) but is NOT available on the other "official" soundtrack cd! So you must get this cd to hear it!
HASH(0x9d14e918) out of 5 stars not the same 14 Sept. 2009
By Richard G. Hull Jr. - Published on Amazon.com

I was surprised that the songs on the movie are not played the same way as they are on the cd. I guess i would have too copy off of the movie to get the songs the way i would like. Overall the cd is good never heard those songs before. thats why I bought this cd, because of the movie. The movie was excellent by the way.
