These are the winter version of the classic Kiwi Trousers but with a snug fleecy lining for added warmth. They feature a weather-resistant finish and with eight useful pockets. As with all SolarDry garments made by Craghopper, this has been tested in every colour to ensure it meets a minimum UPF 40+. Many Craghoppers garments, including this one use fabrics and finishes that give total easy care attributes, such as fast drying and minimum ironing. This is achieved either through the use of crinkle weave constructions or by the addition of a finish that encourages creases to simply drop out. For warm insulation, these trousers feature a natural down and boucle fleece for a soft alternative to wool.
The eight well-positioned pockets include a large OS map sized cargo pocket on the leg with a dedicated mobile phone pocket inside and concealed zipped pockets for carrying valuables. The elasticated waist ensures the Kiwi Winter Lined Trousers are comfortable.

The bad: #1. The bars on the "male" bit of the belt buckle are inadequate and break under tension. The belt itself is of lightweight webbing that distorts to something similar to an uncomfortable cord. #2. The silly cost-cutting has reduced the hip pocket depth by 6cm: even handkerchiefs fall out just from normal walking around. This renders the unzipped pocket worse than useless; the zipped one is just about tolerable.
Given that the cost of an item like this is mostly in the labour, it is royally idiotic to reduce the quality of what was once a very good product just to save a few square centimetres of fabric. Irritating decision!
I am a fairly warm body when walking and have always made do with light summer trousers before, using long johns under on really cold days, and Berghaus waterproof trousers when wet. This year we had a VERY mild week and minimal precipitation - the Craghoppers did alone for every day.
I read from another customer that the lining could get clingy if your legs got sweaty - I can see this being an issue if I wore them on too warm a day, but not really a problem this February in Torridon.
I chucked the too-narrow included belt when the product arrived and went with an old leather belt that I would use with my other walking trousers.
Very good product - recommended.
I would highly recommend these, as such already ordered anther pair. Great product, and from all appearance well made. Looks like the same high quality product, I have come to expect.

Good for fairly short walks in winter. They're quite thick and so not too flexible for long walks (possibly getting better with age) and far too thick for long walks in summer.Published 2 months ago by Paul
