Have emailed their customer services and been told that the new trousers will have the older style pockets. They did send me some replacement belts, but these are not as good as the original ones.
Will have to look in the shops before buying anymore to see if the changes have been made.
New innovations include a larger smartphone sized phone pocket and wear tapes to the back of the trouser hems.
The zip off legs work with well made and finished zips that start/stop on the outside seams (a previous pair of zip-off trousers made by a different manufacturer had the zips on the inner seams which caused then to rub when walking)
New style belt clip too - possibly more robust
Actually, I had been looking for a pair of these trousers, in this colour for quite a long time. I already know my size and would gladly have purchased the first pair I could find in the shops. Could I find them in this colour and size? Bit of a leading question.
I like the fact that Craghoppers have made this a classic design that they don't mess with. Other branded outdoor clothing manufacturers change materials and change designs on a yearly basis. One year you might find the perfect pair of trousers but the next year they don't exist and the new design isn't quite right and doesn't quite fit. Frustrating.
When I found them on Amazon I took a chance that all would be well, and it was. Exactly as described. These Kiwis are a quality product, both in material and cut. Just for your information if you are considering these, the regular leg size is quite generous, only buy the Long if you have really really long legs.
The other bonus is that even with offers and discount cards the best prices are still here on Amazon.
My new black Kiwi Zip-offs arrived today.
First impressions are pretty good soI've order another pair.
Craghopperes seemed to have responded to negative feedback about their re-designs of these trousers.
The pockets all have similar internal dimensions to my old pairs of Kiwi from almost a decade ago.
The elasticated pocket inside the leg pocket is actually bigger that before and it now accommodates my iPhone6s Plus!
This new buckle is a return to the type where you have to squeeze from both the top and bottom, and the belt fabric itself is now much longer than before. The plastic buckle parts now slide out of the waist loops much easier than before, so that's all good if you want to hang things on your belt.
The removable legs no longer have the left and right labels. The zip seemed a little less well made than my old pairs and I had trouble getting the zip started.
I only wish that the point where you have to start zipping up the trousers wasn't so far round to the side of the leg, 30-45 degrees further round to the front would be great and shouldn't compromise the look too much?
Great item, I'd definitely recommend it.

Regular = 31". Seem like good lightweight trousers. Would have preferred the shorts to be a bit longer, but their fine, just above the knee. Read morePublished 13 hours ago by Euan Ross
Great pair of light weight trousers for walking or travel.
Really like the smaller elasticated pocket within the leg pocket. Keeps a phone or multi-tool from rattling around. Read more
I have returned these as they are too large, a similar craghoppers product of the same size fitted perfectly so go figure! Read morePublished 27 days ago by Seanmac
