perfect in every way possible! first off, we have the live set. Starts off with everyone chanting 'cradle,cradle' at the top of their lungs. when the band (finally) walks on stage the audience starts screaming like total nutters, very very loudly :S the songs they play are fabulous, dan's vocals are very impressive for a live show and the other band members seem tp play effortlessly. the whole show is awesome, with dani cracking jokes in between songs and even manages a SMILE at one point. of course, the audience (who are a rowdy bunch, i can tell you that) are yelling, jumping over eachother and are having a good time.
we then have an hour long shockumentary, which is a good laugh. very random and very wierd at times, we even have the pleasure of cradle's lighting technician singing the wombles! footage of the band quite drunk (no surprise there) and doing wacky things to eachother and innocent passers-by. at one point dani decides to throw eggs at a guy below his balcony, not forgetting to send a lamp over the edge too.
but my favourite thing on this dvd has to be the unforgettable 'blair twit project' mad!!!! the guys have been drinking (again) and for some reason end up in the woods. martin lies in netteles, dani steals a public sign and of course drops his pants! (we have a very nice view of his but) precious
there are also 3 music videos, which i might add are not half bad.
all in all, this dvd is exceptionally funny. any and every cradle fan will love it!
(also check out peace through superior firepower which i hear is even better)
well done lads

I stronly recomend that every Cradle fan should have this dvd, or anyone whos curious about them - it's a must! Personally its my favourite dvd and my favourite band line-up too.

The live performance is first class all the way through. The band arrive onstage to the entrance build-up music followed by Dani shortly after. They dive headlong into 'Lord Abortion' from the Midian album, followed by a mix of other Midian songs and songs from the pre- Midian era.

Dani's vocals are amazing, the musicianship is top class, the lighting and camera angles capture the feeling of the moment, and makes you feel part of it. The colour changes throughout the concert to fit the emotions and speed of the music.

Dani's comments and jokes between songs are funny. Occasionally we catch a glimpse of the operatic-voiced Sarah Jezebel Deva who we later meet in the shockumentary.

They are accompanied by the two stilt artists onstage during 'Cruelty brought thee Orchids' and 'Queen of winter throned'. There is a slight interlude after 'Her gohst in the fog' which is the all important song that introduced me to Cradle in the first place. After that its 'Summer dying fast' brought back from 'The principle of evil' album to 'Bittersuites to Succubi' which is the album they are promoting in the shockumentary.

Dani, next has his throat theatricaly cut by the Circus of Horrors crew,then hes back onstage being resurrected and wearing a horny t-shirt. (no-its got horns on!)

I even find Dani quite fanciable during the whole of the dvd being pre-dreadlocked,lean and bouncy.

The mood and depth of the concert is better than any I have ever seen before. An audio version of this is available on cd 1 of Live bait for the dead double cd.

Cradle of Filth: Heavy, Left Handed and Candid
This DVD contains:
The complete live show from Nottingham Rock City, Easter 2001;
A long 'schlockumentary', 'Sifting Through Filth' featuring many bizzare moments from cradle's recent USA/Japan tours;
Three videos (Scorched Earth Erotica, cut and uncut and Born in a Burial Gown);
'The Blair Twit Project' featuring Dani and co.'s drunken antics in a field;
A trailer for the film 'Cradle of Fear'in which Dani Filth stars;
A picture gallery;
A clip from 'The Circus of Horrors' live show (performed at the Rock City gig).
This DVD is excellent. The live show is great example of Cradle's talent and all the documentaries are really funny. I would recomend this to any Cradle of Filth fan.If you're not into them you'll still enjoy the band's backstage antics, although you might find the live show and the videos rather tedious.
Otherwise this is a great buy.
