Do you wonder why this DVD can be bought for as little as 1p? It's because it is so bad. I bought this because I admire Emily Booth (Bouffante in the credits here) but this film has the look of a cheap video. There is plenty of blood and gore but the acting is terrible (laughable) and the plot seems to go all over the place. On the credit side, I liked the concept of the Sick Room and I actually get the impression that the writers could have made this the core of the film. They missed a great opportunity. There's also a very attractive naked lady taking a shower but even so this is a terrible film. If you must see it then get some beer in first.

This is one of the worst horror films I've seen in a long time. It seems to be shot on a handheld video camera, the script is awful and the story, such as it is, difficult to follow. At some points it's about strange monsters, then some other murders, then the monsters come back, then it's about odd porno stuff. All the women seem to be played by the same actress, because obviously the black hair and red lipstick is a must and it's all breasts out for the lads and some kinky sex with huge amounts of blood and gore and more effing and blinding than makes sense.

I agree with a previous reviewer that it's only redeeming feature is that it's so bad it's funny. The acting is risible. It's not so much terrifying as sick in the extreme. It makes Saw look like an Oscar Winner.

It might be based on some kind of anthology, but the point is it should hang together. At this point it's just a coagulation of badly put together stories that go on way too long without going anywhere you want to go. The only other good point is I was intrigued by just how bad it was so stayed with it until the end, but I can think of better thngs I could have done with a couple of hours of my life.

Well, where to start? I saw this was coming on the Horror channel and looked up the reviews written here.
They were not re-assuring. However, it was late at night and there was sod all else on so I gave it a go, thinking
I'd probably switch off before the end.I didn't! Although agreeing with a lot of the comments posted here, I was
still entertained enough to watch the whole thing. If you're looking for a good story, forget it. It's really about 5 stories very tenuously linked together.(I couldn't find a link at ALL with one of them) I was reminded of the old series "Hammer House of Horror" but with the gore content multiplied to the Nth degree. The story about The Sick Room was quite excellent, very original, and I can well see some other director cashing in on this theme and building a whole film around it.

The violence and gore is certainly OTT to the point of being hilarious, but I don't think the director intended it this way. Unlike others, I found the acting to be perfectly acceptable, but don't get this whole thing with Dani Filth. Is he supposed to be scary? For me, he looks like a transvestite with a very bad wardrobe sense. Or Michael Jackson on speed! You know you're in trouble when the scary villain is prettier than the other females in the film, regardless of all the bare boobs on show.

All in all, I found this to be reasonably entertaining and not a waste of TV time. I wont be buying it, but if it comes up again on Horror Channel (and it will!) then take a look yourselves.

This is a very dark and violent film made in the soiled, gritty, fashion that us Brits do so well. If you are after polished, Oscar-winning, performances forget it but if you like your horror down and dirty then this is the film for you. Any Cradle of Filth fan who doesn't own this has probably been locked in a padded cell for too long.

I wasn't entirely sure how many stars to give this one. I could give it five for being very entertaining ie - keeping me and all my mates at the time laughing histerically at it for being so bad or it could have one star because the acting is appaling and there appears to be no plot (that flows anyway!) so I gave it 3 to be on the safe side.
We only rented this out because we knew we wanted a horror movie but and went into Blockbusters blind and picked the first thing we saw and Johnathon Ross said it was Marvellous don'tcha know?! There may be a lot, and I mean A LOT of blood and gore to keep you hiding behind cusions/sofas/people but otherwisw thats about all that it offers as a horror movie. Bless Dani Filth for taking part in this twaddle, but as a main character he doesn't say much and at the end where he ends up with only half a head be prepared to be overcome with The Giggles at the erm, 'wonderful' special effects - pure class!
This is definately a movie to watch on a girly sleepover as it was watched by me and five friends and we've now all created ledgendary phrases such as "Potato Babies", "I want your leg" and "AARrrrggh that's gross!" Watch it and you'll understand...
A movie that will stay with you forever.

Cradle of Fear is a horror film about... well I'm not too sure!

It would seem that it's nothing more then an excuse to see a lot of blood and guts, but if that's what you like, then why not?

It's true, there is very little substance to this film, the storyline is almost non-existant, or rather there are too many stories within this film to keep track of, with one reacurring theme... Dani Filth as "the man". Yep, this is a film in which Dani Filth stars as a ... "man" but doesn't really play any part in the film at all. That's not to say it's not enjoyable at all! I myself am a fan of both blood and guts and Cradle of Filth so you can't really go wrong here! Just be aware, the effects really aren't that good. And like I said, Dani Filth isn't in this film nearly as much as he should be!
