3.0 out of 5 stars Abused Woman Going to R&R Ranch Hooked Up With a Ranch Hand Who Had His Own Problems 19 Mar. 2017
By Guy Reviewing Romance and More - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Cowboy Paradise was about a woman discovering her true self by allowing herself taking chances with relationships, but somehow the emotional impact seems to be a bit low and it's almost as if she's just giving herself permission to love.

Cara was damaged by years of hell by her paranoid abusive husband. So when he wrapped his truck around a tree, she was secretly relieved but unable to let loose. She took a chance to go for a weeklong retreat at Nirvana Ranch and met Ben. Ben is a ranch hand at Nirvana ranch, and he's also finding himself after having wandered for years, and while he felt a connection to Cara, fraternization with guests is frowned upon, even though the cowboys on the ranch are definitely drool-worthy. And Cara was flattered by Ben's attention, but years of abuse have left her self-esteem in tatters. Can Ben break through by revealing his own history, and heal each other, and teach each other how to love again?

The background was revealed a bit too early and the bad husband's death mentioned in passing so that the emotional impact wasn't fully defined. As a result, the book feels like a hook-up novel, where Cara's abused background did not seem to have played too much into her decisions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much Hallmark, little character development 19 Jan. 2017
By KM - Published on Amazon.com

To be honest, this book is not my typical read. I usually lean towards romantic suspense but I thought I would try something different while the book was free. The characters were a little flat and the author left a lot in the table when it comes to making a statement about grief and surviving domestic abuse. This is HEA type book. Too much drama with the main character and spontaneous resolution to all past problems. Read for a quick fix or if you have a sort trip with time to kill.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read 30 Nov. 2015
By Pauline Frost - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Cara Rae and Ben Kade had a lot to overcome in their personal life in able to move on to enjoy a love they could build on. Her abusive husband did a number on her self-esteem which Ben helped her realize. Ben felt guilty for the accidental death of his sister as a teen because he was busy doing something else at the time. In order to get their lifes on track it took a vacation to Nirvana Ranch for Cara to get past her guilt.
This story pulls you in from the start and you don't want to put it down. Rhonda Lee Carver can tell a story like you are a character helping to get to the HEA ending.
