There are good covers bands, then there are GREAT covers bands.

The Meanies, featuring James Warren are absolutely superb. This album contains a well chosen selection of well known songs which they have made their own.

It is a super little album and has rarely left my CD player since my copy arrived.

Think that one covers band is much like another? If you do, it's time for radical reappraisal. The material within this excellent collection not only highlights the musical versatility of each of the five Meanies but also gives the lie to the old statement 'jack of all trades, master(s) of none'. These fellas are consummate musicians, one and all but that doesn't imply that there's any kind of heavy-handed approach to the songs therein. Perhaps the truth of it is that it's only the unadventurous who will hanker for straightforward homages. If you love music with a unique twist - a quality The Meanies bring to each track, without warping and shattering each song beyond any meaningful recognition - then this a CD that should be set to 'auto repeat'. As The Beach Boys so nearly sang "take a load off your feet (Pete)/And give your lugholes a treat".r

A collection of classic tracks and original compositions, expertly crafted around vocal harmonies that any band would be hard pushed to top. Dreams is a master stroke in particular.
