About the Author

CHRIS ALMEIDA and CECILIA AUBREY Chris Almeida began writing children’s stories at a very young age. While Cecilia Aubrey has dabbled in writing on and off over the years. It was in 2010, when Chris and Cecilia met and began role-playing online as a hobby, that writing placed itself front and center—this time, writing storylines for the role-playing group. The ideas and plots created for the game awoke their inner writers, and, a few months later, together they began writing romantic erotica. Together, they write suspense-driven erotic romance with sexy, technologically inclined men and woman, filled with intrigue and enough twists and turns to make a rollercoaster seem tame. Chris and Cecilia have several published short stories to their credit and their first novel, COUNTERMEASURE, was published in January 2011. They are currently working on the second and third books in the COUNTERMEASURE series. Through all the chaos and laughter, they still hold true to their roots, bringing their favorite role-play characters and stories to life. This book... There is no word that can describe how much I enjoyed reading it!

I felt like I was one of the characters. I felt what they felt. In my opinion, a book can be considered weel-written and great when you can feel your pulse quicken when things are getting hot and heavy between the characters, when you can feel a pain in your heart when something bad is happening to them, when you feel your heart break thinking they won't be able to be together, when you smile and beam when finally, you know everything is gonna be alright.

Thanks to this book, you feel like you could meet the character in real life (you hope people like that exist!) and you know you would become friends with them.

Cassie is a strong and independent woman. Trevor is a sweet, strong-minded geek, sexy and most importantly Irish (ahaha, that the best part!;))

This book has everything to be perfect.
Romance, Action, Mystery, Love, Friendship, Betrayal... And we have to admit that the sex part is just as great... if not more! (No, I'm not blushing...:D)

I felt like there was some kind of parallel between the chase for the truth, and the chase for love. It was perfect.

I know I will dream of this story for a long time, and I can't wait to read every other book of this serie!

Thank you to the authors, you did a great job at making us dream and smile. Your book is the reason why I love reading so much. Because sometimes, we come across a treasure, and your book is definitely one.

Megan.

This is the first book in a new series and I must say the authors have done a sterling job pulling me into this World of geeks, suspense and love!
Cassandra is a former CIA agent and a kick ass tough cookie, Trevor is a computer geek working for the NSA, who has oodles of Irish charm and is oh so sexy (rawr!). Their paths cross when Cassandra is investigating a cybercrime of which Trevor is implicated after leaving a data trail whilst making his own investigation into the disappearance of his parents.
Their first meeting is the start of this fantastic journey that takes you into the world of cyber, murder, betrayal, suspense and ...oh lots of loving. Oh yes lots of hotness! High five!
I loved this book as it offered something different and was a definite page turner. The interaction between the characters was intense and drew me right in. I became emotionally involved with them as if I was right there, in the action, which was well paced and brilliantly written. The description of the visuals and sounds made you feel the atmosphere and tension which in some places had me on the edge of my seat!
An excellent start to a new series and I for one cannot wait for the next book. It left me yearning for more. Bring it on!

I was completely sucked in to the mystery and intrigue of the story. Cassandra (Cassie) is a strong, intelligent woman who is not looking for love and is looking for her father’s approval. She is ex-CIA agent and was injured on the job, which made her rethink her future. She knows there was a traitor at the CIA but that story is never followed. She is assigned a security job by her father for a new drug and while on the job, the formula is stolen. Cassandra does not give up and enlists her ex-partner Nathan to help her find the information. Nathan, through the story, is a distraction, both to Cassandra and Trevor and to the story. He acts like the jilted suitor and unless he turns up in following stories, seems unnecessary.

After Cassandra is thrown off the team her father gave her, is where the story really gets interesting and involved. The trail leads to NSA analyst Trevor Bauer, who has secrets of his own. They embark on a trip that leads to Italy, France and finally Monaco. Along the way, they both discover things about each other and themselves. It is a love story for all time. They also have to avoid the bad guys and figure out “who done it” and why.

My only complaints about the story are Nathan and also Trevor’s back story. It is alluded to many times and leaves you hanging and confused and seems out of place. It is just a small bump, though, on a marvellous, exciting and sexy tale. I would definitely like to read further stories, hopefully to clear up the Nathan issue and also to find out what happened to Trevor’s parents.

I had previously reviewed the eBook copy of this book, and while I was excited to hear the book in audiobook format, I was also concerned about the narration. I should not have been, the care that Almeida and Aubrey put into crafting this book in the written form extended to their choice for narration. And I will gush a moment here and say that the choice of Tim Gerard Reynolds to narrate the story was genius! With a soft touch of Irish lilt in his speech, that deepens to brogue when required, his narration was the perfect counterpoint, enhancing the story while not detracting with an overly-exaggerated series of accents or tones.

This book brings forward a whole mix of genres: thriller, mystery, romance and even has some clever comedic romance - and there is erotic content, made even steamier by the palpable emotional foreplay and electrifying connection between Trevor and Cassie. While the main story centers on corporate espionage in a pharmaceuticals company and manages to incorporate IT geeks, security, the CIA and even international intrigue and black market trade deals for business gain. A little something for everyone, much feeling as if it is ripped from the headlines.

This is a character driven story, where each is revealed in little painstaking bits like a puzzle, then each piece fits and makes sense, bringing a 3D version of the character into your head. Each character is given the same deference and care, even those who feel superfluous to the main story - be warned: those who seem unimportant at first are often larger pieces of the puzzle - that piece that sits in the middle and provides the final picture. I can say that I have read all of the books in the series - finding a new thing to love about the stories with each one.
