VS550: The Entry-Level 240V Power Supply with High-End Features

The Corsair VS550 is a great choice if you’re building a home or office system with lower power demands, but you still demand the compatibility and reliability that Corsair is known for.

Real Power

The VS550 delivers 550 W of continuous power. With 0.99 Active Power Factor Correction, you get the peace of mind from knowing that your components are protected from uneven power delivery. And, a dedicated single +12 V rail saves you from the hassle of balancing your components across multiple power cables.

Low Noise, High Efficiency

The 120 mm fan is thermally controlled, so it only spins at maximum speed when it’s pushed hard - and even at full load, it’s pretty quiet. Smart design features like this are why VS550 offers up to 85 per cent efficiency. Your PC system will generate less heat, and you’ll enjoy lower energy bills.

Sophisticated Design

The black powder-coated enclosure and the black-sleeved cables give any system a polished look. You’re building a PC, not a battleship, and with the VS550 you can avoid that look of unpainted steel that you’ll find on so many entry-level power supplies.

Reliability you can Count on.

VS550 is backed with a lifetime access to Corsair’s legendary technical support and customer service.

Not a bad power supply for the price

Not a bad power supply for the price
I have been using this Power Supply since November 17th and I have had absolutely no problems with it! I am very happy with this product, the cables don't look that good but for this price I can't really argue with it. The only Thing That I was a little disappointed by was the 4 pin motherboard connector I just wish that it was longer, so if you are someone who is going to be using an ATX motherboard and Mid tower then the 4 pin cable might not be able to be hidden when you are trying to do some cable management. The power supply is very quiet and will be even quieter if you have a non windowed case since I am using a windowed case.

I bought this a couple of years ago to replace the sub 300W OEM power supply that came in my PC and so far I haven't had any negative issues with it. It's very quite, with the fan not really audible compared to the rest of the PC's components ( an i5 3.4Ghz CPU and a GTX 1060 GPU). Even though it's not modular (which is not an issue for me), it's a great value for money unit.

Pros: Value / Sound / Reliability / 80+ Certif.
Cons: -none-
In Conclusion: Definitely Recommended
If you are looking for a good, inexpensive, reliable PSU for a non power hungry PC and not bothered by a non-modular cables, then the Corsair VS450 is for you.

My PC Spec:
CPU: Intel I7 920
Motherboard: AsRock P6t Deluxe
RAM: 12 GB
Graphics card: a basic NVidia GT 60
Hard disks: 6 (SATA. 5 traditional SATA drives of varying sizes, + 1 Samsung SSD 250 GB drive)

I am a software engineer , so only use some of the extra hard drives as virtual machines, and doing high-performance sw development. Other than that, My PC is quite old but works super fast!

This PSU was purchsed to replace a 450 watt one which was beginning to fade away.. after 9 years of loyal service, across Europe.

THe PSU works really well! I'm very happy with it! With 6 hard drives, it ws really nice to have all the SATA power cables readily available(including traditional 4-pin connectors, which can be converted to SATA power cables).

The fan too is barely audiable, as I have music on all the time; and even in the dead of night, it's barely audiable.

Works well for me , thus far(1 month in to purchase).

Will update feedback, should things go pear shaped at some point in the next year or two.

Bought for my first custom pc build after it was well in my budget and have good reviews, i cant really comment massively on the capability of this or how much money this will cost you do run per minute as im still learning myself and really dont know! What i can tell you is it come quickly, was really well packaged and has a really good, solid sturdy fell to it. Really easy to install with just 4 screws and has all the supplys needed and more! Just a quick note to anyone whos like me and is new to the custom build process....make sure you plug the cpu supply in to the mother bored or your pc wont start, screwed me over for a few hours before i realized how stupid i was being! Cant recommend this enough for a first time builder or for anyone who needs a cheap solid power supply that youre not trying to run a small city off!

I have not had any issues with this psu in the few months that I have owned it. It has put up with the large tdp of my amd R9 270X and has the two six pin connectors needed. There are ample connectors for what I need and I cant see you needing more. The cables arent particuallarly ugly (ketchup and mustard in a sleeved black mesh) however compared to an EVGA powersupply of this price doesnt quite look as good. For this price 80+ rated effieciency is good and means that your electricity bill wont be to high. I would definitley recommend this to someone building a lower power pc or a budget pc as it has been dead reliable in the months that I have owned it.

Great product!

Unfortunately, I own Lenovo desktop and could not replace the PSU so easily, as it requires different 14 pin cable. I had to get 24-Pin to 14-Pin Adapter Cable and PSU on top of that. Because of that, I decided to go for this Corsair VS550. I quickly plugged it into adapter and then realized that there is another bizarre 4 pin slot on motherboard, but this PSU does not have 4-pin one. I googled the problem and realized it's possible just to split the connector (as they are designed to split/connect). I did it and it worked. I got new graphics card at the same time - PNY NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti. Everything works perfectly and the PSU is pretty quiet. Did not cause any problems for me.
The only downside I can think of, are the cables, as there are quite a few of them and they take space in the case. Modular version would be more efficient, but for this price, it deserves 5 stars. Excellent value for money.

Very Happy - Corsair is excellent brand, and VS is their entry range making it excellent value.
Incredibly easy to install, i was replacing a blown PSU and i spent far longer tagging the leads i unplugged to make sure i knew what to reconnect than i did with actual installation with all connections easily clicking into place taking under 15 minutes.
A seeming full range of standard connections and leads long enough, and grouped in mesh so easy to use ties to keep box tidy.
Switched back on and no problems.
Lovely and quiet.
Came with a standard if a little short mains power lead.

I ordered the 650w version of the PSU because my granddaughter's original (300w) PSU was insufficient to power her new, GTX 970 graphics card. The clever way in which legacy as well as modern connectors are provided (some connectors slide apart) initially eluded me but fortunately the PSU package includes a clear, national rate telephone number that put me in direct, person-to-person contact with a technical advisor who gave me the necessary advice within minutes. Installation was then straightforward. This is a quality, robust product and unnoticeably quiet (as other reviews suggest). As a result of this experience I have since ordered a second unit to upgrade the PSU in my own desktop PC. Nuff said!

At first thanks to Amazon for the scheduled delivery.Hands down to corsair for their unmatched performance level products and this vs650 is not an exception. I purchased corsair vs650 for power supply source for using my mono block car amplifier in home because the bohemoth mono block car amplifier requires 12volt DC & at least true & consistent 40 Ampere current (although 45 to 50 Ampere current is more preferable) for powering Pioneer 1211D4 400Watt RMS subwoofer to it's utmost. This is the only power supply at the tight budget constraint. The performance is as good as it should be & expected for.No noise, even at high load it is very calm, quiet & cool too.Very reliable product.I also purchased a Corsair VS450 for powering my 4 channel car amplifier for 01 pair of pioneer component speakers & 01 pair of pioneer co-axial speakers. Each of them are performing flawlessly.A highly recommended power supply for the audiophiles who want to build a high fidelity custom speaker system for home use.Always try to avoid the generic power supply/smps like Foxin,Zebronics,Frontech,Techcom etc. as they don't provide the true RMS ampere as they are claiming for.

Hi, I was using cheap Circle PSU for year now, or let's say since my 7th grade. That old PSU lasted for long time so I thought cheap PSU get the job done just fine, but I was so wrong. Currently my PC is GTX 750Ti , Amd FX 6300 ,8 GB ram 2TB HDD. And my cheap PSU is 500v which on paper seems like perfect for getting the job done. But recently after a year, it started causing problems. It couldn't supply proper energy to GPU or sometimes CPU and always crashed my PC. First I assumed it was a heating issues so I even got a coolmaster cooler (which works flawlessly) but the problem still existed. Such bad Psu unit can really damage your parts. So I suggest you to get this PSU, it works flawlessly and people mentioned that they got performance boost from.before and I can confirm it 👌 now my PC makes no noise, even even from HDD which always use to have noise while running which for years I thought was normal. Do get this PSU but ofcourse from a trusted seller or just go buy from near by retailer. It definitely worth it, ingot this for 2450rs. Not sure if it was on sale or not. It has 8 pin for motherboard and also I think two 6 pin for recent GPUs. Go get this 👍
