Product description
Product Description
CX Series Modular power supply units are an ideal choice for basic system builds and desktop PC computer upgrades, offering high reliability, low noise, and the flexibility of modular cabling.
80 plus bronze certified efficiency and clever fan design allow for little or no detectable fan noise during regular operation. The matte black finish, black-sleeved cables and black connectors help give your system a restrained, high-tech look.
Since the peripheral power cables aren’t hard-wired to the power supply, you can connect only the cables you need for your exact configuration of PCI-E cards and storage devices. Once you’ve installed a PSU, you shouldn’t have to think about it. Employing a thermally controlled fan makes the CX Series Modular quieter at idle, and the large diameter reduces noise even when you’re pushing your system hard.

So thanks to Amazon Prime, I immediately started looking at the power supplies on my way to work on Saturday. And managed to find this that they were going to deliver on the same day. Problem sorted. Now back to the Item in question. It is a semi-modular power supply, my first one (and I couldn't afford a fully modular yet). It works awesomely. Due to being modular It helped my cable management nicely as any connectors I didn't need I stowed away. It came with enough spares to help me plug in my 5 HDDs, 1 SSD and the numerous other cards and fans I have in my Baby (PC). Will definitely recommend.
The modular connectors are handy to an extent, I appreciate that you can remove the cables you don't need and would choose them again.
The problems with this though are that it's rated at 30C only, any hotter and the maximum power output can't be reached (read any review) so it's a bit of a moot point being rated for 750W if it can't do it under normal conditions, and for me, the fan totally seized after 5 months moderate use. But I had no way of knowing that until it started making odd clicking noises and I investigated further. The circuitry didn't seem to do anything when the fan wasn't spinning, in fact it was only that it continued to get hotter and hotter until the PC crashed and rebooted, but it didn't shut the computer down at any point so I have no idea what was going on.
There are many better power supplies out there, maybe this is ok if you're on a budget but only that - I realise the value in paying more for better and more stable units with Gold or higher efficiency ratings, better quality bearings and Japanese capacitors.
The power supply is working well and will work on any TKX motherboard.
this is referred to as "semi modular" as the main supply needed for the motherboard is hard wired into the power supply. this isn't a problem as you need this connection any way, so having it modular is a waste of time, money and effort. Having this cable fixed is the right thing to do.
Molex and floppy cables are included, but devices that use these are not too common now. I now there will still be some kicking about - I have a few old drives in boxes that could use them, but for reasonably new kit, you will most likely need and use the SATA cables.
It's reasonably quiet so it wont interrupt your gaming or movie watching. Standard UK "kettle lead" type power input cable is supplied with this.
Good piece of kit. it works well and stays quite. what else do you need?

No stress, had it in and wired to everything in less than half an hour.
Wee tip. If you are replacing an old one, keep the cables of the old one attached. And when the new one is in swop the cables as you go, that way you won’t miss one. Old One comes out, new one goes in.
I think this will last me a small life time. However when it does die I’ll 100% be coming back.
Arrived in good time in one piece. Really pleased with the quietness of it, as my CIT 750 was growling like a hungry beast. Personally I could have done with a little instruction with it but the internet gave me the answers I needed. The sheathing was pretty hefty & unwieldy and more than long enough. Looking forward to it lasting a bit longer than the average psu.
Edit: Two years on and I have just got another one as I started getting intermittent shat downs, which quite quickly became very regular. From the messages I got it became unstable and my PC shut down to protect. Quite quickly it got so bad it would not even start and would hang half way.
On the positive side I got plenty of warning and had time to buy a replacement, which instantly gave me a whisper quite and stable power supply again.
All in all this is a great product, if the SATA cables were slightly more bendy it would be a 5 stars, but i think its a very good buy and worth the money.

Just to let you know recently swapped from a r7 250 to a r9 290x and this baby is still silent and still running lovly, worth the money!
