Product Description
Unprecedented Power Protection - The Corsair Professional Series Gold power supply pushes the state of the art for reliable delivery of clean power under imperfect conditions. If you require mission-critical stability or you simply want one of the best power supplies available, the Professional Series Gold is for you.
A Fully Modular Cabling System - All cables detach from the power supply. During installation, this gives you the flexibility of using only the cables you need for a clean system build with optimal airflow. And, when it’s time to replace or upgrade your power supply, it can be removed from your system without interfering with your cabling – the cables stay in place and connect to your new fully-modular Corsair power supply.
Incredible Efficiency - With 90% efficiency at 50% load, the Corsair Professional Series Gold power supply runs quieter, generates minimal excess heat, and saves you money every month. It’s earned the 80 Plus® Gold seal of approval, your guarantee that you’re making the right choice for smart, efficient power delivery.

The unboxing was exciting and the packaging is premium outside and in. Mesh bags hold the individual modular cables and Corsair haven't skimped on leads. The PSU itself is handsome and rugged with its industrial-looking guts visible from above.
As far as power output, it lives up to its Raison d'être with stoic silence. Running with an overclocked i5 3570k and Radeon HD 7950, I am certain I could add another video card in Crossfire mode, water cooling, many more drives, or whatever else I fancy and still have juice to spare.
It should be mentioned that this supply is very energy efficient and also is actually capable of pulling the full rated wattage, unlike cheaper devices. It is probably overkill unless running an enthusiast gaming PC or heavily loaded server. Consider something from the TX line if you don't need or want a modular design.
Pros:
Very quiet. The fan on my graphics card makes more noise, even writing information to the hard drive is louder.
The unit is what's apparently termed 'modular', which means you only connect power leads to & from it which are actually required. This means no surplus leads hanging down, taking up space & restricting air-flow in the PC case.
Easy to install.
7 year guarantee.
Cons:
Either the unit's a few mm larger than the previous one, or perhaps the leads are positioned differently, but I had to reposition one of the cooling fans on the top of the case to accommodate it.
The cost. It's expensive, but a stable power supply ensures longevity of CPU, graphics card, & drives. That's why trying to cut costs on a cheaper PSU is a false economy.
Highly recommend the AX series of PSUs based on this experience and it is a good base for future upgrades.
The PSU is quiet and has never not provided the power my rather high-end pc requires.
It has enough power and is also very efficient (based on other reviewers).
I've had no problems with it, despite HW monitor displaying the wrong volts being produced (12v rail was showing up as 7v)
There's not much more to say of this PSU, apart from the fact that it powers my GTX 660ti PE OC, with no problems, and the fact that the modular design is GREAT for keeping your case and build super tidy.
