My old Corsair HX850 packed up, and I needed a quick replacement. The 850 was covered by warrenty, but I couldn't wait for the unit to be turned around. I may upgrade the graphics card in the future, hence the upgrade in power.

Pros:
Easy to fit.
Quiet (compared to my old HX850)
Enough cables to run a small power station (ok, I'm exaggerating, but you get the general idea)

Cons:
For a supply of this price, I would have thought that may some of the core cables could have been made just a little longer to allow 'tidy' fitting in a larger case. But everything thing reached so I didn't knock a star off.

I was supprised at how much quieter this power supply was compared to the previous one. An unexpected bonus! Definatley a good buy if you can stretch to it, but make sure you are during enough power to justify the 1200 over the 850 version.

You have a decent system running SLi ?
You like to over clock ?
You want a decent branded PSU that won't let you down and does what it say on the box, constantly ?

Look no further, this PSU literally oozes quality, with all the modular cables you would ever need and loads left over.
All clearly marked as well, so you know what fits where. All fully braided.

The finish on thos PSU relly is top notch as well and it runs extremely cool.
About an inch deeper than a standard PSU

Don't scrimp on a PSU, get the best, get or of these AX1200, it's fantastic.
It ismt cheap, but cheap is dear longterm.
You really won't regret it.

I really do like what corsair have given us with this PSU through the very high quality Japanese capacitors ensuring the reliability and a long lifetime of this PSU along with the fact they have had it certified as 80+ gold which is great as when you're dealing with this much power you want high efficiency throughout.

On the offer hand the only complaint I have to make is not sincerely for Corsair but for all high quality PSU manufacturers you need to start lowering your prices by £20-40 or so to match the price to wattage ratio of those PSU's under 1000W.

But for the most part a must have for a monster gaming machine if that's not what you have in mind save your money and opt for a PSU to match your expected TDP of your build. Thanks and good luck!

I have own the Corsair AX1200 psu, for a few months now. It is an excellent piece of kit, it supplies my PC with all power without problems, the only thing to let it down is the low pitch buzzing sound from the cooling fan. This fan is a Yate Loon 140mm ball bearing fan, which is reputedly cost Corsair $2 per fan, I feel is not up to the quality of the rest of kit. The noise this fan makes is very noticeable at night, and is loud enough to be the only thing you hear from your PC. I myself have replace the Yate Loon, with a Akasa Viper 140mm pwm fan, which means my AX1200 near silent now, but doing this I have voided the 7 year warranty. I have posted how I did it on overclock.net (Yate Loon fan from AX1200) if you are thinking of replacing the stock fan in your AX1200.

I replaced my 650W Corsair with this as I had upgraded to an nvidia GTX580 SLI setup and needed more available power. The Corsair AX1200 really is a great power supply.

I know its a lot of money but with its performance and guarantee it will be worth it in the long run. I have lost count of numerous bad experiences with "cheap" power supplies over the years in terms of reliability etc but since buying Corsair PSU's I have not looked back. In fact my last two Corsair's are still running in other computers and have been now successfully for several years. In that respect you could view "cheap" power supplies as a waste of money as I have found myself replacing them too often in the past.

The build quality is first rate and being a modular PSU you don't have unnecessary cables floating around which was an important requirement for myself. The cables come in a separate bag (in the box) and there are plenty of them even if you run SLI! Another important factor is that it runs extremely quietly.

The PSU will only draw the power that it needs, it wont be drawing 1200W all the time! With the Corsair Gold series you have an efficient and reliable method of delivering that power requirement.

This is a fantastic PSU, fully modular, quiet and well built.
However something like this is ONLY needed if you are running something CRAZY, with a lot of fans, a lot of HDDs, watercooling pump and 4x GTX Titans in SLI.

When buying a PSU it is best to work out the idle and full load power draw of the system you own/are building and chose a PSU based on that, you want the PSU in maximum efficiency range for where the computer spends most of its time, idle or full load.

Efficiency = saving money.

I installed this PSU on 15-09-10 and it is working perfectly.
There were reports of a faulty first batch but mine is excellent.
Installed this in a Lian Li Pc-x2000 and perfectly silent.
Great unit,runs cool,no noise,Corsair quality, 7 year warranty,(there's confidence)
No hesitation in recommending this unit.
