Ordered The Saga and The Novel I was lead to believe that these were 2different books but they are the same book with just different titles/names. Very misleading. Very disappointed.

I started the book with great enthusiasm, the early years were good, especially as I am currently watching the The 60s episodes on DVD, but unfortunately there were too many ommissions and some very irritating inaccuracies. I know that for a book this size to cover almost 50 years some cuts have to be made, but why is there SO much emphasis on Ken Barlow, his story is only one amongst so many.
On the whole I enjoyed the book, but many times I found myself shouting at it " Thats not the way it was!"

As a young woman in England in the 60s, I used to follow "Coronation Street" with great enthusiasm, appreciating especially the dry northern humour and common sense advice. I then married in Italy so only saw occasional episodes, which I had difficulty in making head or tail of. Now I'm in a nostalgic phase of my life, so it was an enormous pleasure to read the whole story-- absolutely gripping and well told, even though it was difficult to keep track of all the new characters. If there's a reprint, I suggest a "family Tree" to help keep track of the characters!

My daughter loves Coronation St but as she is only 23 she did not have lots of background knowledge so I gave her this book, she just loved it.
