HASH(0x8c58e8c4) out of 5 stars Alzheimer's disease from the inside, a personal account 28 Aug. 2013
By Don Moss - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Alzheimer's disease is an immense societal and healthcare disaster that affects 5 million patients in the US. The impact of this fatal progressive disease extends far beyond the patients. It affects families, friends, and it strains the healthcare system with unsustainable costs. But what happens when Alzheimer's disease happens to you? What is it like to look this monster in the eye with full knowledge of what is to come? What does Alzheimer's disease look like from the inside out?

Michael Ellenbogen takes on Alzheimer's disease as it progressively robs him of his most inner being, his mind. He tells the compelling story of courage with remarkable insight into his own failing abilities as he slips from high-powered corporate America into the fog of dementia. Michael tells us what Alzheimer's disease really is, and he does it with absolute honesty and candor. Michael not only takes on Alzheimer's disease and the dementia that is progressively pulling his mind into the darkness, he has written about it in a way that makes it real as well as personal to the reader. Lastly, of course, Michael has become a vocal advocate for Alzheimer's patients everywhere, and thereby has done a great and lasting service by writing his personal account.

This is an important book, a unique commentary on Alzheimer's disease that needs to be heard. It is a must-read for anyone diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, a family member or friend of someone afflicted with Alzheimer's, or anyone interested in courage and one individual's strength in the face of such adversity.

HASH(0x8c58e918) out of 5 stars Every family touched by Alzheimers Must Read!! 29 Aug. 2013

Thank you Michael for understanding the importance of writing what was happening to you as your Alzheimer's progressed. This is a detailed story from the first test to the diagnosis. You are a blessing to the Alzheimer's family for telling 'their' story too. Thank you for the test results from beginning to end to help people understand that they are not alone. You are awesome to have written this book for those who now don't have the ability to say...I hear you, I love you, what did you say, I don't understand, I love you, who are you?

Blessings to all that read this book. Blessings to each person touched by Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia. Thank you Michael.

HASH(0x8c58ebf4) out of 5 stars Living with Alzheimers 30 Aug. 2013
By Sid Yudowitch - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I have Alz. Reading is very difficult. I read this book within 24 hours. Michael gives a chilling and realistic account of being a young professional facing life with a compromised brain. Michael gives detailed accounts of his disabilities and how he deals with them. The emotional difficulties are also addressed. Alz. has many of the same symptoms of depression and anxiety. This book is also a story of a person who takes on the disease and does not back down.

I recommend this to anyone with Alz. that wants more out of life than just giving into the disease. I recommend this to professionals especially those who diagnose dementia because tests alone can be deceptive, the interview is so important because one has to understand the severity of the disease. This book gives great detail and insight into what it is like living with Alz.. A caregiver will be given insight into what a person with Alz. is dealing with.

This book at times is very raw but leaves one better educated and hopeful that people like Michael exist and doing their best to advance the Alz. cause.

HASH(0x8c58eaec) out of 5 stars A Unique Peak Inside the Changing Mind 28 Sept. 2013
By Lorraine Ranalli - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
When a loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimer's, the initial shock is usually accompanied by fear--fear about what's going to happen to your loved one, and fear that genetics will render a similar fate unto you. Worry gives way to curiosity. What is going through the patient's mind?

Michael Ellenbogen candidly answers that question and more. The resolve to put his experiences in writing for our benefit illustrates Michael's level of professionalism and compassion.

I would say "From the Corner Office to Alzheimer's" is a must-read for family and friends of Alzheimer's patients but that would be only partly true. "From the Corner Office to Alzheimer's" is for everyone because we never know when or whom this devious disease will strike. It could very well be any of us.

HASH(0x8c593150) out of 5 stars This is how Alzheimer's really is 22 Aug. 2013
By stephen hume - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Michael's personal journey with Alzheimer's disease captures the reality of those with this disease. The road is especially hard for those diagnosed at an early age - fathers, mothers, sons and daughters who are still working and raising families. This book is filled with not only experiences but gems of wisdom Michael has gleaned from his daily struggles. It is also a call to action. We need so many more people with AD to stand up and tell their story!

Only when we are able to put a loving face to this disease will the support needed to win the fight and end this dreaded disease be accomplished. I know this book is both accurate and heartfelt because I was diagnosed with AD 6 years ago.
