Very well written. Don't normally buy singles but the title intrigued me. Sad and insightful look at a poor marriage - however loved the writing, especially the end - what does society do about someone who they believe is a victim but the victim doesn't agree, they just wanted a solution! Worth a read!

Cornbread is the powerful and moving tale of a murder, as told by a put-upon wife from the prison cell where she is serving out her sentence for shooting her bullying pig of a husband to death. Sean hammer writes with a real sense of place, and the narrator's voice is poignant and articulate in her own way. The ending is sudden, but aren't all endings in this kind of marriage ? And it's true to the narrator's painfully honest black and white view of things. An excellent piece of work, which would make a great one woman monologue play.

An intriguing little story that was well written with good tempo. Some black American dialogue that was unfamiliar but did not detract. A solid 4 stars.

I was thinking that the story would go In one direction but I was totally surprised. A very good story with no pretentious. A must for a quick read.
