Make file sharing easy, fast and secure for everyone in your organization with new WinZip 17. The #1 choice in file compression, WinZip now offers support for multiple platforms, secure cloud and social media sharing, and new productivity-enhancing features. Give employees new ways to safely send files without putting corporate information at risk. WinZip 17 also includes PDF conversion, watermarking and image compression and resizing for more streamlined file sharing. Easy network deployment and excellent license pricing make WinZip 17 ideal for businesses of all sizes.
Unzip anything - Extract content from the industry's widest selection of compressed file types, including Zip, Zipx, RAR, 7Zip, BZ2, LHA/LZH and many more.
Zip and email in one step - With the integrated ZipSend service, your employees can send large files and folders by email without worrying about clogged inboxes and bounced messages. ZipSend automatically zips and uploads files to the cloud if they exceed the email size limit, then adds a link to the files in the message.
Secure confidential information - As always, your organization can count on WinZip to protect your company's confidential information from unauthorized access with 128- or 256-bit AES encryption. For extra security, set your own password policy by defining complexity requirements that WinZip will enforce for you.
“Shred” temporary files - For added security, WinZip auto-wipes (shreds) temporary files using the U.S. Department of Defence standard (DoD 5220.22-M) to prevent misuse.
Preview files and folders - WinZip's convenient previewing functionality lets users browse the contents of a Zip before unzipping it. The advanced Unzip and Try feature lets users temporarily review related components within a Zip (such as an HTML page and its associated graphics) without having to extract it first.
Automatic backup with WinZip Pro - Ensure corporate information is backed up with custom jobs that will automatically zip and archive important files. Schedule backups to run unattended, upload them to an off-site server or burn directly to CD/DVD or Blu-ray Disc.

I said to the technical people that I would stop using their product and they couldn't care less, they just ignored it and they must be shovelling in money as hard as possible. It looks as if no one is bothered to write a few more lines of code to make this work properly

I have been using WinZIP since it first came with a 'pertetual license'. That is, once a version was purhcased, all follwing updates were free. That lasted until, I believe, version 10. After that the company was bought out by Corel (and maybe someone else before them) and there are now charges for new versions about once a year (although minor updates & fixes are free). For that reason I have been opting to upgrade about every three major versions. I feel like they are milking the clients, so to speak. That's OK with me; an update every third year seems work just fine for me. (This is not unlike the annual subscription rather than a simple one-time perpetual license that both Microsoft and Adobe have implemented. Better revenue stream no doubt.)
Although others have indicated registration issues, that seems to be fixed. I had no problems. However, during installation, I opted to install in a different folder that my current version 14, expection to be able to test this version before removing the old. However, the old version was completely uninstalled with absolutely no indication this was going to happen. Not a nice thing to do, I feel. (I do have the old installation files and keys so it can be undone.) Also, the install options to NOT have a desktop icon or task bar icon were ignored. Easy enough to change from the configuration dialog in the program itself, but kinda irksome to ignore users. Why ask if you don't do what the user wants?
So 5 stars for functionality, but Corel really should look at the irksome issues raised by me and others here.
UPDATE: Contacted WinZip support (who is only available during weekdays BTW). They quickly sent me a new validation code, which worked. However there was no explanation why the problem occured and I see from subsequent reviews that validation issues are a recurring problem.
I submitted a support request but five days later had not received any response.
I tried again to activate it and this time received a message saying that the activation code had already been used.
The evaluation version also added an Add-in to Outlook which then stopped the synchronization with Google Apps.
I see that their standard response when people have reviewed the product poorly is to ask people to submit a support request. This is useless when their support department doesn't respond.
Winzip is a complete waste of money
