johnny thunders is on good form for this duet lp. patti palladin's sleazy vocals are a perfect match for thunder's junkie drawl. the tunes are a nice selection of rockers and old classics... personal favourites are 'alligator wine' and 'love is strange'. worth checking out!

In which the late, great & belatedly lamented Johnny Thunders teams up with ex- Destroy All Monster ( try & keep up) Patty Palladin and presumably had a ball recording some of their favourite old songs. Lovely warm production befitting the choice of 'girl band' heavy songs ,( by La Palladin herself) draw you into a very entertaining romp of an album. From the psychadelic tinged "Can't seem to make you mine" via Elvis classic "Crawfish" among others and including a take on "Love is Strange" which would not alienate fans of "Dirty Dancing" (honest). It's fair to say Patti outsings Johnny but then she would, wouldn't she? And I'm sure nobody cared. All this and a cameo by the wonderful Chrissie Hynde.

Remember him THIS way, along with LAMF - I for one like to to think of him having a great time making this record away from the apparently almost unrelenting chaos of his life. If he didn't he was a better actor than Marlon Brando.
Enjoy.

Great. Not punk, but even your girlfriend will like it.
Very enjoyable selection of old classics.

Bit ashamed to say I only recently 'got into' Johnny Thunders and what a mistake that was.

It's rock 'n Roll more than punk and contains some really good, even catchy songs, brilliantly performed.

Brilliant idea to put these two artists together!

Lovely stuff!

Jonny and Patti gather together a collection of oldies and give them some treatment to bring out the hidden meanings. The thing is they both had impeccable taste and the chemistry sizzled as they crooned their way through the 50's and 60's producing a sexual heat akin to Nancy and Lee in earlier times.

So Johnny what do you like to eeeaaatttt???
Craaaaawwwfiiish

Then starts a call and response where the temperature rises as Patti's vocals lounge before the listener enticing them to feast on the morsels offered.

Hands up who wants to Mambo? Exotica never sounded so enticing as they extract the juices of sexotica to provide a trip to a far away land where the shortwave dial is forever stuck on party time.

Uptown Harlem becomes a funky fiesta of switch and bait.

There are some moments of real heartache such as Patti's "It's you" as she distils the extracts of desperation and heartache into emotional frequencies only the dead could fail to be moved by.

It's not such a big shift from the New York Dolls as they too looked back into order to look forward. Instead of doing it with a one fingered salute Johnny and Patty did it with a reverence composed of the sexual chemistry of their hearts.
