'Gripping and packed with gruesomely authentic detail' Daily Telegraph 'Gritty, grimy, furiously exciting.' -- Literary Review

From the Back Cover

Meet Lee Sweeney, number one tabloid anti-hero, numbed-out good-time geezer and England's best footballer for a decade. Even within the context of a world of bungs, backhanders and bubbly, where coaches are hysterical, all agents are bent and girls are only interested in the size of your platinum card, Lee's life has weirded out. His marriage has gone bad, his club is desperate for success, he's fallen for Page 3 royalty and his shady brother has returned from afar to torment him. While he struggles to keep the shambles afloat, deep inside Lee Sweeney is sick: his mad-dogging has caught up with him and he's fighting for his life and career.

Lee Sweeney has gone mad for booze. He's mad for fame. He's mad for money. He's football crazy.

The spelling in this book was really terrible. Couldn't get into it at all. I wish I hadn't purchased any of the other books by this author.

Have just read this in combination with I K Watson's new book - Director's Cut - not a prerequisite but good to get to know Cole - the early years.

There is a roughness and acidity to this book which sets the scene but agree with other revieweer that some times gets a bit like a political broadcast

Take my advice get this and Directors Cut and I promise you - you will be like me wanting to know where Cole goes in the third part of this trilogy
