For me, personally, this series has been losing some of its magic. I have nothing against the author or the books and I still really love the characters and the series premise but I feel that it's suffering from the inevitable "slow death by series" syndrome. I know a lot of people will disagree with me, especially as Harper Sloan and this series are extremely popular, but that's just how I feel.
Saying that, this story started out really well with Asher and Chelcie getting to tell their story after Coop's death. Asher is having trouble continuing to live without Coop and is spiralling out of control towards the bottom of quite a few bottles. Chelcie has a secret she needs to tell Asher though but with his self-destruction in full flow, the time is never right.
It is painful to witness the anguish Asher is experiencing and apart from Maddox's "tough love" no-one with can get through to him, until Chelcie. Asher has loved Chelcie from afar but until he realises he may lose her to another, he doesn't take action. This was the best part of the story for me, apart from the sweet ending. I love it when these men go all alpha and when Asher expresses his dominance you really want to swap places with Chelcie!
Once they realise their feelings for one another and Chelcie's secret has been told the story gets a bit too flat and saccharine for my liking. What happened to Mr Tough Guy!!! Yes, it's nice to see the sweet side of Asher, especially after his vulnerability, but I still missed some explosiveness.
The story continues with Asher trying to find a way to avenge Coop's death. The story picks up again towards the end with a balanced and highly entertaining ending.
I hope Maddox's story lives up to expectation. That's one story I can't wait to be told!

How can two gorgeous handsome wholesome men come from such a hard nosed bitch. What a sad beginning the boys had!
We also briefly met Chelsie in Beck and Dee's book, what a sweetie, and harbouring such a secret. Don't even what to think how Coop would have reacted, but as Ash says he would have come around.
I loved how the group all rally round and stick together, all that testosterone makes you wonder how they get on so well.
Ooh! Sway and Dee! such naughty people, sending Cheslie on dreadful dates and I thought 'Oh Shit' Ash is going to loose Chelsie, as Phil sounded so perfect, then you threw in the foot fetish I was chuckling!
As with all the CS boys this has not disappointed, the sweet love story coming through but the long way round.
These two were so suited for each other and I'm glad that Dee and Sway intervened.
This book had me laughing, crying, cheesy smiling, cursing BUT thoroughly enjoying their story. It was damn hot and steamy. Oh my!
So pleased that we got to catch up with the other boys and how they are all getting on! so love Cohen! he is so cute! cant wait for Emma and Locke's book!
