Brilliant, big cool case

When the mobo in my Dell XPS710 expired I decided to build a new PC using many parts from the Dell. The reviews on the Coolermaster HAF 922 were good and it had the functionality and cool looks I wanted. Yes, it's big, but it's actually smaller than the Dell. And much lighter in weight. I found it very easy to build into, quickly getting the hang of the hard-disk holders (there's a knack), and having plenty of space to move around and fit things and run cables. The front 5.25" blanks clip out and the optical drives clip in. I installed an ATX sized ASUS P5K Deluxe mobo into which I slotted 4GB 800MHz RAM from the Dell and the Core 2 Extreme quad QX6700 cpu. I wanted to try overclocking and, conscious of the need for excellent cpu cooling, I got a huge Zalman CNPS9900A Blue LED Heatsink and Fan (from Amazon) and fitted it so it drew air upwards and blew it into the case's top fan. This is a great solution as, in use, the mobo controls the fans and the system runs very cool and quiet with the cpu under 40deg at 3.2GHz. The case has an 8 inch fan sucking in air at the front and another blowing out at the top. I don't need the smaller one in the back panel and removed it. This is a great case, highly recommended, easily 5/5.

I was a bit dubious about buying this case a first because of the sheer size. Not your average base unit!

The amount of room inside makes building a lot easier. The tool-less 5.25 mounts (can be easily removed) are ok but only fitted to one side of the 5.25 bays which leaves your optical drives able to move if pressed at opposite corner. I used screws at the side without these "gimmick" mounts to properly secure my drives.

Thumb screws for cards are handy but I still tighten them off with screwdriver.

The hard-drive mounts are a bit of a pain but at least give the benefit of rubber mounting to cut down vibration. A removable hard-drive cage would have been better. A removable motherboard tray would also have been preferred.

Clips only for the case front would have been better for removal for cleaning.

Front bay covers are easy to remove and refit, not so easy to clean.

Watch the feet! Nearly lost one of mine as they come off too easily.

The power supply goes in the bottom of the case and cables can be routed behind the motherboard. I used a Seasonic semi-modular power supply which needed no extensions to main motherboard feed.

This thing acts like a hoover. Regular cleaning inside is definitely required.

However, where this case excels is in the cooling. I have dropped processor temperature 10 degrees on my previous Coolermaster without adding any extra fans. There is room for a 200mm side case fan and a 140 at the bottom. Unfortunately however, a 140 bottom would foul my Seasonic leads.

I bought this for my gaming rig and it is awesome! it is HUGE though, It was a lot bigger than I expected, but it's okay because I have the space for it.

The only things I were not happy with are:
-The side fan is not included with the case
-The HDD mounting trays are so much fuss. The idea of them is to make the installation easier than mounting with screws, I actually found it harder, the tray consists of 4 gold pins which pop into where the screws should be, the rubber that fits onto the pins sticks out way to far, making it impossible to fit them into the bay.

Overall a good buy!

I bought the Cooler master HAF 922 case after lots of scanning through youtube and written reviews on various cases. I settled for this case for my new PC build, and all I can say is its absalutly brilliant!! plenty of room to work with, easy tool free design, even letters are stamped into the chassis that tell you where to put the brass risers depending on whether you have an ATX or Micro ATX motherboard! it takes any guess work out of it. It looks and feels solid. The large fans are excellent for a push pull setup to keep the chasis interior nice and cool. There is a nice amount of clearence at the back of the case for cable management, and well placed holes for popping your main 24 pin and eight pin power connectors to your motherboard! I would highly recomend this case, great case, good price! well done Cooler master.....

p.s and the delevery was very fast even with super saver delivery, I expected to receive it after christmas but it arrived at my place of work just before we broke up for xmas : )

I have built a few towers over the past ten/fifteen years and this has to be just about the best case I have used. It is a solid construction, roomy and has a very practical layout. The side on hard drive enclosure is a great idea and you don't need to screw the hard drives in - the individual drive bays slide in an out and is held in situ by a clever locking mechanism on the front plate. In addition the gromits[?] that hold the drive in the bay are covered in rubber to minimise noise from vibrations - a nice touch. The Disk Drive bays are also well designed in that they lock into place with a single click of the special mechanism that cooler master have developed.

It has plenty of space for a large CPU heat sink and my double height graphic card looks lost in the case!

Another nice touch are the rubber pads underneath the PSU, once again helping to minimise vibrations and noise.

It is just a great case but it is massive so make sure you have enough room to fit it where you want!

Great but where does the SSD go ?

I bought this case after looking around for ones with good air flow, solid build, hard drive caddies and so on.
After buying it, I was really pleased and I have built a nice and juicy PC but I used an SSD for my OS and to this day I have no idea where it should be fitted.
I have it inside one of the removable 3.5" caddies, stuck down with some blue tack of all things. Actually, blue tack works very well and the SSD makes the system fly..
