About the Author

Rob Kirby is a Chef Director at one of the UK's most well-respected and successful catering companies - and a firm passionate about their involvement with community-based projects. He is also a leading member of The Academy of Culinary Arts. These two institutions have given Rob the opportunity to work with Great Ormond Street Hospital School, something he has now been engaged with for more than ten years. He has witnessed the difference fun interaction with food can make to the lives of children. With many years of restaurant and catering experience, he is a well-respected figure within the business, with many appearances on UK TV from BBC Breakfast Time to Saturday Kitchen. "Cook with Kids" is his first book.

What a great find, a book with 'real' food, suitable for household meals rather than the usual 'treats' included in most cooking with children books. There are sweet treats but in this book my grandchildren consider the chicken dishes to be the real treats! The recipies are clear and easy to follow, the photographs are lovely, the food we have cooked has looked like the photo - not always the case with some cookery books! I particularly like the fact that this book has shelf life, younger children can be involved with the stirring or weighing out, older children can proudly produce food for the family and even young people preparing to go off to Uni can find some recipies to perfect so they can feed themselves well, and relatively cheaply, once they are away from home. So much better for them than surviving on take aways! The knowledge that part of the sale price is going to such a worthy cause (Great Ormond Street Hospital)adds an extra little something to the overall pleasure.

Its not your average children's book, the recipes are healthy eating and fun at the same time. We love the recipes as my nephew loves to cook, he can create these with ease and we know he can eat something healthy. There are treats but its not like any other children's cookery book, it really sparks the imagination of what else to try. Our favourite is the Chelsea bun pizza.

A really lovely recipe book with family favourites and something new, easy for the kids (mine are 7,8 & 12)to do, some without me hovering! Brownies and the chicken recipes are regulars without complication and each has its own twist. A range of recipes that are all thoroughly good fun!

I bought this for my coven but we were a bit confused by all the recipes for cakes and biscuits. Nowhere was it mentioned how long you should roast a small child for or any advice on which wine goes with rack of teenager. However, I suppose the book is quite nice and I will not be returning it for a refund. Still a bit disappointed though.

Excellent book that brings a busy mum and her kids together in the kitchen. Great, easy to follow recipes that the whole family enjoyed making. The buttermilk breaded chicken was a winner!!!! A great cause too with royalties going to Gt Ormond Street.Cooking with Kids

Agree with the other reviews that it looks great but having looked through I don't think there are that many of the recipes you could actually get small children involved with, one recipe actually tells you to get small children out of the kitchen! What is the point of that! Maybe for older age groups but not much hands on stuff younger ones can do.
