Product Description

After a lapse in her relationship with her lover (Katie Stegeman) forces twenty-something party girl Samantha (Najarra Townsend) to move back in with her overbearing mother (Caroline Williams, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), things seem to be at an all-time low. But the devil-may-care Samantha soon finds escape in a one-night stand with a mysterious man (Simon Barrett, V/H/S) who leaves her hung-over, guilt-ridden and infected. Uncertain of the disease or the man who gave it to her, Samantha attempts to hide it from her loved ones. But she soon realizes that she is not just the victim of an STD, but rather the host of something much more catastrophic, and that she and those around her are in mortal danger. Part zombie film and part body-horror shocker, director Eric England s CONTRACTED is a skin-crawling experience in biological horror.

A thoroughly depressing, unpleasant, miserable experience. Its like spending an afternoon at a VD clinic. I had to punch myself repeatedly in the face and sandblast my testicles afterwards just to cheer myself up. The actress is good but boy oh boy did she pick an unsympathetic character to play. She'd be better off in costume dramas.

expected this too be outrageous and turn my stomach, from what i had heard and read anyway............. it didnt have this affect i feel the hype ruined it for me i found it to be very tame to be honest............ nothing exciting here, but not a total flop either, an ok watch if nothing better

I will start by saying that I am a tad biased being a big fan of the Zombie genre. I was expecting this to be an opposite gender remake of Director Sebastian Hofman's drama / horror 'Halley'. A Mexican film about a man decaying alive and observed by many to be a metaphor of loneliness. Only place I've seen it is on iTunes! Good film in its own right and not great for the squeamish or those who can't take slow character development driven movies. Contracted although not dissimilar in many respects plays out a simplistic narrative of the start of a potential Zombie outbreak and the observation of one person as they turn. Yes there are a fair few issues / holes in the film but, it's Zombies and not real life.

I think it will be marmite for many who expect a faster paced proper Zombie horror. It was very well acted, very well directed and didn't come across as low budget, cheesy or amateur. There is a second movie out / on the way. If the plan from the start was to build us gradually into a franchise, then this was a superb intro from which to pick up pace. Let's see how the second one does and if any further offerings can improve upon or keep up the momentum!

A few things that I took away from this film... Never order the side salad, never flirt with an overly friendly lass who won't take off their sunglasses, don't be afraid to suggest to the doctor that he might want to recommend A&E and, well, just keep hoarding for the apocalypse because you never know!

Samantha (Najarra Townsend) part time lesbian and drug user gets slipped a roofie at a party and has unprotected car sex. The next few days, Sam gets progressively worse as she seems to have the worse STD on the planet. The story is about her getting sick and attempting to cope with life while trying to conceal an illness. I kept waiting for an alien to pop out of her and all I got were maggots.

The disease was never explained. I thought Ms. Townsend did an excellent job and I would love to see her in something that has a plot worth watching. The plot ran around in circles and never went anywhere until the end when it got silly.

Written, produced, and directed by Eric England. Works as a rental. Don't expect horror. More of a drama/thriller.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex. Brief male rear nudity.

No, no, no!! Awful film. Totally unbelievable situations. Could have been done a lot better as the idea was there. On a par with the dreadful THANAMORPHOSE in this Body Horror type genre. Avoid like the plague if you'll pardon the pun!!
