Product Description

Married couple Marika (Gillian Anderson, TV s The Fall) and Gabriel (Rufus Sewell, The Holiday, A Knight s Tale) spend their lives researching the most controversial and dark corners of physics. Until one day when everything changed... Catching a flight to deliver a lecture set to change the face of modern science, Gabriel mysteriously disappears, leaving Marika and their son Erol, (Academy Award-nominee Haley Joel Osment, The Sixth Sense) confused and alone with no clues or explanation. Years pass by, until a bizarre discovery throws Marika and Erol s lives into a new dimension as a glimmer of hope that Gabriel is still alive reveals itself. But in order to try and bring him home, they must risk all they think they know about the universe to change the parameters of reality forever.

A distinctly low tech Sci Fi with a real beating heart o a story about loss and searching for the truth. If you are looking for explosions and lying cars look elsewhere this is a much more interesting story than simply gadgets. HJ Osment is a very accomplished young actor and gives a very warm performance from the start. Gillian Anderson is really good as his grieving mother who has decended into the depths of depression. It's not a sad movie though so not to many tissues needed

Ive just seen this film and although not the effects laden type of today,it is deep and thoughtfull, but is far more about relationships, loss, and what it
could drive you to.I thought the acting was very good, especially Haley Joel osment and Gillian Anderson.A little slow at first, but the later part was
superb and the ending had me in tears. In my opinion a thinkers film.

Continuum is a very poor re-hash of many films that have preceeded it. What Gillian Anderson & Rufus Sewell are doing in it, albeit their respective roles are slight, is anybodies guess. Perhaps this was a vehicle intended to re-launch the career of Haley Joel Osment, if that was the case further work is needed. The ending would lead to a different time stream so events would not happen that led to it, so it would not have happened.
...no not sure I understand that either. This film is nonsense. Maybe the Butterfly Effect or many other far better films would warrant your time in a better way

I'd give 3.5 stars if i could, it's an ok film and Gillian Anderson is very good in it. The whole time travel thing could have been so much more, but seemed a bit under-used. More of a TV movie than a great film, but enjoyable none the less. Renamed from the badly titled US release "I'll Follow You Down" the poster artwork is VERY misleading, giving the impression it's a time-travelling sci-fi epic, which I guarantee it isn't. It's more an American indie-style film, bit like I-Origins, essentially about family relationships but with an under used sci-fi twist that never really gets explained, a kind of poor mans 'time travellers wife', but I enjoyed it.

TL;DR:

Pros: Interesting perspective, well acted and well scripted.
Cons: Very badly paced, starts too late, ends too soon. Leaves you a bit cold.

Full review:
First of all, this isn't really a movie about time travel, but it has been sold as one, and that is why I think so many people were really disappointed with this.

Don't get me wrong, it does feature time travel, but it is really just a maguffin, a plot device.

Of course, you can say that about other time travel films. For example About Time is really about valuing every moment of your life, and The Butterfly Effect is about accepting your past, and learning to make the best of your life as it is because nothing is ever 100% perfect.

In the same way, this film is really about absentee fathers (and husbands) and the devastating effect that can have on their families. The time travel element could be removed entirely without affecting the core of the film. Hayley Joel Osmont is simply on a quest to find his father, and to stop repeating his mistakes - his father's location in time or space is almost irrelevant.

While time travel is talked about, very little time travel actually happens, far less than any other time travel movie I have seen (and I've watched most of them that I know of.) Do not watch the film expecting time travel to be happening constantly, or you will be disappointed.

With that understood, what do you have left? Actually a pretty nice little drama, well acted, scripted nicely, but let down by really poor pacing. The introduction to the plot takes up the first THIRD of the film, and doesn't bother to really establish characters too much.

At last a science fiction film that explores Relativity and the concept of multiple Universes or brane multiverse in an understandable way. It doesn't rely on computer generated images and is all the better for it , the acting is great and the tension palpable - definitely one for the more erudite viewer.

Not a bad story . mostly predictable. spooky to see HJO looking exactly the same as in his childhood role "I see dead people" except older & with a beard...

A bit of a sleeper this movie as it passed me by on its theatre release. An excellent cast, a good plot with a twist on the time travel story and with a real sense of lingering melancholy. It's interesting to watch Joel Haley Osment too, this is the first film I've seen him in since his days as a child actor and he's matured in to a decent actor. Recommended if you have an evening free and want something that requires a little more thought than the latest Transformers movie.
