Rosina May has grown up living next to the Thames with her captain father. After a chance encounter with a river pirate changes her life forever, she realises that she cannot marry her fiance Harry and so breaks off the engagement. When her father falls ill she is left penniless, destitute and homeless and has nothing to her name, except the Lillie May - her fathers ship.

With colourful characters who help her along the way, your heart goes out to Rosina in her determination to succeed and track down her river pirate.

I only finished reading this book yesterday and it is definitely my favourite of all Dilly Courts books (I have read them all!) As always it had me hooked from page one and I found myself reading it in three days!

Superbly written, enthralling, with loveable characters and such vivid realisation of Victorian London, you can't help but drawn into the world of Rosina May and her friends - yet another great from Dilly Court!

I have read this book within three days. Once I started I could not put it down. I realised too quickly who the river pirate was but I certainly did not see the twist towards the end. I hope there will be more from will and rose. To read more of their adventures together and their extended family.

A beautiful, romantic story, I'm a huge fan of Dilly Court. She describes the scenery perfectly and you can visualize the picture. The characters are all differant and the main one is usually a pretty young woman. Although the ending of her stories are predictable, you're always hoping that they'll have a happy ending anyway. This story had me captivated right through and I found it difficult to have to put it down. I loved it!

The title of this book had always put me off, but it was about Rosina and her family her father was captain of "The Ellie May" river barge and they would transport cargos of Hay, her father has a rival competing for the same work and they hate each other, this causes lots of problems and hardships for Rosie. Its a great book to escape into.
