The dashing reckless privateer Nicholas Beauvallet has been knighted by Queen Elizabeth the First for his daring adventures for England! As such his luck and fearlessness is infamous throughout Spain and England! He now roams the European seas and is never one to turn down a challenge from a Spanish galleon!
On one such occasion he is challenged by a Spanish ship which he quickly takes over, on board the Spanish ship is a Spanish nobleman and his beautiful feisty daughter Dominica. Rather than take them captive he returns them to Spain, which is in itself a feat.
He vows to return to Spain and make Dominica his bride. This is such a daring and dangerous undertaking, Dominica is sure it would mean his death! She declares " if there were a man brave enough to do such a thing for love!! "
I shan't spoil the story but of course he does dare!! Sometimes I was worried he wouldn't make it!!
If you love thrilling swashbuckling adventures with witty dialogue and a true romance at the centre you will love this book. It is reminiscent of the Scarlet Pimpernel, 3 Musketeer's and Master and Commander all rolled into one but with a true Heyer romance running through it.
