Product description

Product Description

Digital music downloads and CD's are convenient, but nothing beats putting a record on. Digital players and downloads quench a musical thirst, but vinyl is a fine wine, something to be savoured.
Whether it’s browsing through and playing singles to bring back memories; or the joy of the album experience, feet up, a cover to browse that is a work of art in itself, and tracks played in the way the artist intended. Now you can enjoy the vinyl revival.

Quality & Performance

Unlike cheaper and basic turntables that are very often only designed for the one off task of converting records to digital formats, the CET 500 is manufactured for continued enjoyment of your record collection, with high quality sound reproduction and build quality.
It also features a discreet USB socket so you can connect to a computer and also convert your records to digital format if you wish.

Hi Fi Choice Magazine (June 2015 edition) awarded the Connected Essentials CET500, 4/5 stars in a group test review of turntable in the £120 to £399 price bracket. They summarised with - ‘WE SAY: A decent starter deck for someone wishing to add vinyl to their audio system’

A Complete Solution

The CET-500 is a high quality turntable with an integral pre-amp, which means it will work with most audio/Hi Fi systems or sound docks using your equipment’s ‘aux in’ or Phono(RCA) socket without needing to purchase and use a pre-amp. Plug into a power socket and your amplifier and that’s it, nothing else to connect or purchase.

Features

Who Are Connected Essentials?

We may not have a big brand name but we have been in the electronics and telecoms business for a long time and we are enthusiastic about sound and product quality, and of course vinyl. Which is why we have researched and have teamed up with whom we consider to be the best factory to manufacture our CET500, a Hi Fi quality turntable for a vinyl experience that does not break the bank.
Bring your record collection down from the attic, or start collecting from the growing number of albums released and re-released in record format, put another record on and rediscover the vinyl experience.

I had been thinking about buying a turntable for some time, as the BBC seems to be constantly talking about vinyl and revivals etc. I have a fair few records in the attic but a combination of putting off getting them down and that I could not find a decent record deck, encouraged my procrastination. I had a look around, did not want one of the toy like USB decks, nor could I find a decent one for under £250. I spotted a Sony unit in Richer but that looked like a cheap unit just labelled by Sony. Finally got the records down and found this unit on Amazon. I had never heard of connected Essentials before so would have been wary, especially as no reviews for this product, however by chance I purchased a Connected Essentials headsets a few months ago, it was of a high quality and whilst not cheap, it was good value and a good performer, so purchased with some confidence, this unit from Amazon.

Whilst unpacking my purchase, it all came back to me, setting up the tracking and tone arm weight, plugged into my Vita docking unit and all looking good when placed on my compact Sonorous Hi Fi rack (see image) which I purchased elsewhere as cheaper than Amazon.

Sorry to waffle on, I don't do many reviews but this purchase has fired me up as so much more than just a good product, I have really enjoyed the whole experience. As for the CET500, substantial and well built, sounds great and reminds me of a decent quality HiFi record deck connected to a HiFi system I used to own. Worked without a preamp (was told in Richer I would have to buy one for any record deck I purchased, so double check before buying one) and the sound quality is excellent, no doubt in part down to the Vita docking station.

I have posted up an image of the deck in situ on a Sonorous Hi Fi stand I also purchased to give it a home, connected to my Vita docking station.

Recommend not just this unit, but the whole pleasure of getting out your vinyl !!!

Son has just discovered my kind of music. Dug out my old records for him to look through. Needed something to play them on and he asked for a turntable as a Christmas present. Researched and was actually looking at some more expensive ones thinking you pay for what you get. However, during the research found this with its good reviews, so glad we bought it. Came well packed, on time and it was easy to assemble. It is well made and of very good quality. the sound.....well it was brilliant to hear all the old vinyl again through a really decent sound system.

Had this turntable for a while and the quality/build is great.
    BUT...
The autostop function at the end of the record is terrible. Most (not all) albums seem to be ok but nearly all my singles come to a slow sludgy stop before the end of the song which is pretty crap really (and very infuriating).
I've researched this and it's the way the unit is built. There is a non-stop function (switch conveniently at the back of the unit!) Which means records will play all the way but the table constantly runs and you have to juggle records when taking them on/off the player.
I've lived with this for a good while now but have decided to upgrade as I can stand it no more. Such a basic issue has ruined what is otherwise
    a great player.
I really wouldnt recommend this to any serious music listener.

I love this unit but...........! The one I received tried to switch itself off at the last 4/5 seconds of most 45 singles in auto mode. This made it sound like holding your finger against the turntable- slow and horrid to hear. I contacted the manufacturer via their web site - seeking their thoughts. Maybe I was doing something wrong. In manual mode it performed fine. I received no reply so eventually contacted Amazon.
Amazon were brilliant as usual and within 48 hours I had received a replacement unit. To my dismay it performed the same in auto mode on many 45rpms. I'm sure it's a setting issue. Anyway I'm advised Amazon are investigating. Other than that fault, a nice deck and a great sound.

This is quite a respectable bit of kit and very reasonably priced. Built in Pre-Amp is a bonus. Sound quality is good. Recommended.

Let's start with MINUSES first as the list is short and you can live with it - it costed less than 200 british pouds:
    1. you can not connect your own power / signal leads
    2. you can not ommit the phono stage that is on board therefore use your own one to decide which one works better
    3. its automatics - why it turns on the spining of the plate when lifting the arm up at the end of listening of particular side of the record to return to the locking position ? Why it does not lift the arm by itself ?
That short list are suggestions if version II or SE is planned
And now the best - PLUSES:
    1. it will take you less than 20 minutes from putting your sign to confirm a delivery to spin your very first vinyl
    2. the first impression is that it it real bargain
    3. the quality of body built is excellent, it is not heavy but seems to be rigid, its feets do its job perfectly
    4. the tonearm is perfectly isolated from unexpected physical movement, vibration etc. around it, you can even tap the rhythm on the body of turntable, close/open its transparent lid and the cartrigde will carry on its job = won't skip over the groove
    5. the quality of sound proves that the team behind the project deserve the money they are paid: sound is spacious enough to recognise where the musicians are, the bass foundation is decent, trebles are rich enough to recognise particular human voices and instruments, no problems with following the rhythm and when you switch it on ( tonearm in locking position of course ) and put the amp volume to the max you will hear nothing on top of amp's own noise ( if any ).
