I've been aware of this book for a while, and was intrigued by the premise but never seemed to find time to fit it in to my reviewing schedule - until now. I wish I hadn't waited so long!

Now, it's fair to say that Mia is a bit of a troubled soul, has trust issues and is seeking to mend her broken heart somehow with meaningless sex. Then she gets a "too good to be true" offer and the shenanigans really begin. And what a shady path it is that the reader is taken down.
It was very easy to get caught up in this story. Mia is an intensely frustrating character. Ethan is significantly more likeable, and the supporting cast of Mia's friends all have their own unique voices and character traits, and are more than just background noise to the narrative.

That said, for me at least, the real jewel in this book is the connection between Mia and Ethan. Initially at a simmer, but rapidly increasing to boiling!

Ms Koenig's writing evoked an emotional response from me, and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

I received this book from Enticing Journey Book Promotion's Bookshelf in return for a fair and honest review.

Conflicted is the absolutely perfect title for this book because it not only describes the story but also how the reader will feel after reading it! According to Kindle, it was 385 pages which is a good story length but somehow it felt so much longer. This is probably because of the amount that happens in this story. It is full of twists and turns, characters turn out to be different to what you originally thought and the plot, well, take it from me that the baseline is a simple one but it gets very convoluted with all the goings on.

Mia is the main female and I couldn't quite come to grips with her. I understand that her world imploded and she felt an amazing amount of pain which no one should have to go through. I didn't like her way of 'coping' but also understand that everyone reacts differently. She seems like someone who is ruled by her body, which is completely different to what we were being told about her, which is one of the reasons I literally snorted out loud when Ethan says that he never thought of her as a 'party girl'. I'm sorry but in my book, someone who throws college parties most, if not every, weekend with loads of beer, drinks shots and wakes up with hangovers frequently, makes her quite the party girl!

Ethan is a whole new story. We don't learn much about him but he finds out quite a lot about Mia. Still waters definitely run deep with this one and I can't wait to find out more. I just hope he doesn't turn into a 'Hans' man.

Micah, Jackson, Shane, Bri - these are all secondary characters that still play a huge role in the book but I feel the surface has only been scratched with all of them.

I must say I'm a bit lost for words, maybe conflicted, about what to write about this book!! I felt out of breath reading it! The author has packed so much into this book. There's so many twists and turns that I thought I had everything worked out and then got thrown another curve ball and all my theories disintegrated!

It was the kind of book that I don't think was relaxing, probably because I was trying to work things out as I was reading. It was like un-knotting a ball of tangled wool....you smile at the end result, but it's a puzzle to get there!

The room mates were all different characters and they all had Mia's best interests at heart but I felt they were better friends to her, than she was to them. I can't say I connected with her as much as I did with some of the others. She seemed very young and easily led.

I'll certainly be interested to see where this story goes as I'm not sure the people I think I trust, will end up being the trustworthy ones in the end!!

A story of secrets and lies, of standing tall and making every day count.
Mia ended up being booted out of college through no fault of her own, her good for nothing ex meant that when they showed her the door, she was gone for good. But when she gets the opportunity to set her life back on course, while perhaps not what she wants to do, it is a case of needs must and as such she takes the job.
But like they say when one door closes another one opens and despite the circumstances, her new job brings her more than she had considered because it is through it that she meets Ethan.
Ethan is fairly quiet, keeps himself to himself, he has a history that you immediately want to unravel, he was a little like Mia in a lot of ways, keeping people at bay wherever possible but there is a chemistry between the pair of them that is undeniable, but unfortunately in this case I have a feeling that it will take a lot more than chemistry to find them a happy ever after, because this book has enough twists and turns to cause you whiplash, it is full of lies and deceit and you will have no option but to inhale deeply and count to ten just to stop yourself hyperventilating .
I mean how much s*** do you have to have piled on top of you before you eventually stand up for yourself and call time on it all, because dear lord, this is a mountain of pain in these pages
I liked Ethan, he was a great character, charming and strong, easy to fall for and the author pitched him just right because he was easy to get attached too. Mia well she was harder to get a handle on, I thought she needed to just grow up much of the time, she allowed others too much control and seemed content to take a back seat a little too often for my liking but I have to say that I liked her resolve.
