I loved this book. Abbie's writing style is like a fleecy blanket on a snowy day and characters are so well drawn it's like you've known and enjoyed their company for a long, long time.
Dr Briggs, (great last name, but I'm biased) is a single dad who moves to a new neighbourhood with hopes for his young son and meets divorced single mum Chelsie. They hit it off, but all is not plain sailing in their romance. I can't wait to read the next in the series see how all the characters develop....
I had no idea what to expect before starting this book, I went in blind without even reading the blurb! What a pleasant surprise it was! I loved it! I stayed up till the early hours just to finish reading because I couldn't stop reading!
Doctor Ian is a widower with a young son, when he moves to Dallas he meets Chelsie who is divorced with a young son of her own. Sparks fly as soon as they get together, but both know that their children come first and that their romance needs to be kept a secret from them for now.
I loved all the characters in this book they were so well developed and the writing style was brilliant I could picture everything happening as if watching it pan out in front of me. There's steamy scenes and comedy and a great romance in the making for this brilliant pair. I couldn't help but think there's hidden secrets yet to be revealed and although the end hints to a happily ever after for the couple, I feel the next book will see them go through some painful times before they hopefully get their great ending!
Five stars from me I can't wait to read the next book!
This is the first book in a new series. It's the story of Chelsie and Ian, both single parents and both seemingly happy in their own lives.
Ian a doctor and widower, his wife Olivia died shortly after the birth of their son Oliver, has moved from California to Dallas to improve his sons life. Chelsie has come out the other end of a horrible marriage to a man that was thoughtless and selfish. The only good thing to come out of the marriage is her little boy Ty.
When Dr Ian Briggs moves in two doors away from them, the mutual attraction is front and central for him bur she tries to ignore it.......
I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is a well written book with well round characters, likeable secondary characters and good description. It moves along smoothly , it's a very enable sexy read. Ian's a hot man any women would want in her life !
“What we were doing was like a prelude to a fairytale,”
“Ian, people put up walls to make others try harder. It’s human nature to want to be worthy.”
“Women can’t figure out inches because they’ve been lied to for centuries,”
“Shoes and handbags were my best friends, next to Shawna and my Bunco Sisters. I didn’t have a gazillion pairs, but the ones I did have were investments – small sinful assets.”
“My love for you needed time to bury my darkness.”
Abbie St. Claire has a comfortable, enjoyable, and relaxed writing style. Her stories are easy to read and follow, deliciously steamy, and never fail to entertain. Amidst the sizzle there are always interesting and insightful stories of human foibles and personal struggles. Conflicted on 5th Avenue involves a belated sexual coming-of-age for a single mother in her mid-thirties, who was shattered in her divorce from a philandering husband - who took her self-confidence with him when he left her for a younger woman. She is inexperienced and self-conscious, but is slowly discovering herself with an attractive new neighbor who happens to be a sexy widower/single dad who is highly experienced in pleasure. Where is this neighborhood? I want to move there. The characters are likable and complex and the story is involving and well plotted. Be warned that it ends in a cliffhanger – thankfully I have the next installment already loaded on my beloved kindle, which I am going to immediately dive into.
