It’s always a sad moment when you come to the end of a beloved series. Harry Potter, the original Star Wars Trilogy, and my latest – ‘Confetti at the Cornish Café’ is the third and final book in the ‘Cornish Café’ trilogy; unless Phillipa can be persuaded to keep them going? But would that be a good thing? All good things come to an end, is a very true saying and some things go on way past their sell-by-dates. This is not the case here.

I have enjoyed, to say the least, Ms Ashley’s tales of Demi and Cal and the third, unusual but certainly important character, Kilhallon (the estate in Cornwall the story is mainly set). There are many books where the location is important, but few that earn the right to be counted as a character in their own right (Mandalay in Rebecca comes to mind). I want to visit Cornwall again now to try and search it out, but know that despite the beauty of the county, I’d be disappointed.

Ms Ashley has been extremely clever with her pacing of these novels as hints have been dropped about the cause of Cal’s behaviour, which were revealed in ‘Christmas at the Cornish Café’, but here we finally get to meet the little girl from his past that has so affected him, and the way it was written brought tears to the eyes of this reviewer. But what about Cal and Demi you ask? Do they finally get together?

Well, they already are at the start of the book, in that they’re living together now. But the title of the book? Suffice to say, all revolves about a celebrity wedding taking place at Kilhallon, though all is not quite how it appears. Old enemies try to stir things up, relationships are not what they seem and, I could go on and on, but I won’t.

I loved this series of books, totally different to the books I normally read, so it was refreshing, the one character who I disliked intensely was Mawgan, what a cow she was, and when you read the book you will find out why.
Demi and Sol, they get the camp going, Demi's love is Demelza, her Cafe, she can't believe her life as it is then, she started out homeless, and then finds love, and her man, who is Sol, she firsts meets him when she pours a drink over Mawgan head, fantastic.
You will have to read the book to find out just how good the series is

I've loved spending time in gorgeous west Cornwall with Demi and Cal (to say nothing of Mitch). There couldn't be a more satisfying ending to their story (so far.....?) as this one. Kilhallon and Demelza's Cafe have been transformed from the run down caravan park that Cal inherited, into the perfect romantic Cornish holiday destination, with views and ambience to die for. What better setting for a celebrity wedding, that looks totally spontaneous? But how will inexperienced but determined Demi rise to the challenge? With the help and hidden talents of staff, friends and family, is the answer, in the teeth of all the obstacles thrown in their way. Demi and Cal still have darker secrets from their past to share before they can have perfect confidence in one another and see their physical passion for one another morph into a deeper love.
Their story is told with the author's signature energy, wit and warmth. It's a delight to spend time with all her characters, see them discover their creativity and explore their feelings - even the anti-heroes and -heroines have some shreds of our sympathy, along with their come-uppance. And finally, any novel with a starring role for an owl is a total hit with me!

Love these stories. Just this is not the last one Called and Demi have got it sorted but surely there's more mileage in Kilhallon yet. Love all the characters. Mitch is a sweetie and the Poll with her practical advice. So glad Gary Rachel and little Freya have featured so well in the story. More please. Recommended

I was thrilled to receive and read this book as I was wondering what would happen next for Cal and Demmi. As with the previous 2 books in this series the story line was gripping and I couldn't put it down. Please can we have a fourth book Phillips?
