The only chapter that was of any interest value or worth at all, in my opinion, was chapter 12, which provides a few case studies of people that Alan has helped with hypnotherapy (something that I certainly do respect him for). It still isn't terribly well written but does contain a few nuggets of good advice such as the following: "Psychological phobias are very, very common and removing them is a big part of my remit. The majority of issues that people suffer with develop at an early stage in life, usually during early childhood and that is why it is very important as parents to raise your children carefully. Young minds are extremely delicate and easily impressionable. Get it wrong and it could lead to serious emotional problems later in adult life."If you are interested in hypnotism or practical psychology, or raising psychologically healthy children, and fancy reading some simple but accurate and sincere advice, it could be worth your while purchasing the Kindle version of this book for £2.41 (I believe) for chapter 12 alone. Chapter 12 is the only reason that I've changed this to a 3 star review (from the original 1 star rating).
In general, if you want to learn about the American man that he once met who got kicked out of a club for masturbating and ejaculating all over the bar, about the woman he once met who pulled up her skirt and lifted her knickers to show him a tattoo that she had got done on her vagina, or the policeman who told him about a trick he played on a new recruit that involved tricking him into pricking his finger on a drawing pin, then this is the book for you!!! If you want to learn about hypnotism - whether stage hypnotism or hypnotherapy, or any related matter, then please give it a wide birth! [For an excellent and truly informative book on stage hypnotism see - The New Encylopedia of Stage Hypnotism - or a different book by Ormond McGill if this one is outside of your budget - and there are many, many books on hypnotism and hypnotherapy to choose from].
And Alan, please recognise your limitations and put your time and effort into something that you're better cut out for - competent stage hypnotist and hypnotherapist you may be, competent writer you most certainly are not!
