About the Author

Jürgen H. Schmidt wurde 1966 in Schramberg im Schwarzwald geboren. Nach Abschluss der mittleren Reife erlernte er zunächst den Beruf des Bankkaufmanns. 1992 wechselte er vom Bankgeschäft in die Jugendarbeit in einer Evang. Kirchengemeinde. Die berufliche Neuorientierung führte zum Studium an einer freien Fachschule für Theologie und Mission. Nach Abschluss seiner theologischen Ausbildung und einem Sprachstudium in Spanien reiste er 1998 nach Peru aus. Zusammen mit seiner Familie lebte er insgesamt sieben Jahre im peruanischen Amazonastiefland. Er unterrichtete dort als Lehrer an einer Bibelschule für Indianer. Sein Dienst führte ihn auch in die Dörfer verschiedener Indianerstämme, um vor Ort Schulungen durchzuführen.
