This a beautifully written emotional story. The main characters Gray and Daniel are captivating, intriguing and very interesting. Gray is a compulsive liar with an incredible amount of issues, she is forced to seek help from a therapist in order to maintain her job. She comes across Dr Daniel Harrison who she thinks will be able to help her as she feels a certain connection to him and feels comfortable in his presence and believes she could trust him and maybe even open up and be honest with him. Gray is a fabulous character, complex, feisty, funny and stronger than she thinks. Daniel is understanding, caring, reserved, easy going and has a very calming effect on Gray. Their relationship is a little conflicted as they both develop a comfortable way to be with each other as their feelings for each other become more evident. Gray is of course willing to act up on this feelings but Daniel fights them as it would be inappropriate and unprofessional to act on them. This story is not your run of the mill romance story but a story of self believe, healing, understanding, friendship and the coming to terms with the heartbreaking pain of events that happened in the past, it is emotional and will leave you wanting more.

I found this book interesting and found myself saying more than once just one more chapter before I knew it, it was 3.30am and I had finished the book oops.

We meet the female lead Gray Donovan who is a compulsive liar. It comes across that Gray can't help herself as lie upon lie comes spilling out of her mouth. And will lie anyway she can. Gray uses lying, sex and alcohol to battle her demons.

In a chance meeting Gray meets Dr Daniel Harrison who sees through Gray' s lies and despite his attraction to her he wants to help her anyway he can. Dr Harrison's attraction to Gray is immediate but knows deep inside him that this is not what Gray needs in her life right now. Gray also has feelings for the Dr, but due to the nature of his job he insists despite the attraction for her that their relationship must remain platonic. You can feel the chemistry between them jumping off the page as it draws you in right away.

This is not your typical love/romance story. It's about family and the love Gray has for her friends who Gray sees as her family.

Be warned this book does end on a cliffhanger but don't let this put you off as you will be missing out on a brilliant book by a very talented author

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreak, hope, and the possibility of love 29 Jun. 2015

I cried more than once while reading this. I was fully absorbed in this story of a compulsive liar, who used lying to cope with so much sadness and grief.

Her name is Gray. She uses men, alcohol, and lies to cope with life. Nathan is her safety blanket, and she's not open with her shrink. But Alyssa, a neglected teen, allows her to bond. Then there is Dr. Harrison... Because of her trying to get him as her new shrink, there are unexpected developments. I cried, laughed, and enjoyed it all.

There are a couple of sex scenes, and there is much to do with death of loved ones. Just a heads up.

The story has many layers and storylines, all work well together. This is book 1 and ends in a bit of a cliffhanger. I'm ready for book 2!

Compulsive by Lia Fairchild was simply brilliant. Your mind, body, and soul will be emotionally consumed. Compulsive is a story about acceptance, guilt, survival, love, loss, and most importantly forming relationships built on trust and honesty. In this story the main character uses different coping mechanism to deal with her demons physically and emotionally. Lying has become Gray's security blanket, to protect her heart from forming attachments, with the people around her. Sexual interactions under false identity, is also a defense mechanism Gray uses to keep her painful experiences at bay. Can Gray seek help and over come her past? Or will she let circumstances define her life? If you want to find out one click now. Ms Fairchild eloquent words will whisper to your heart and soul, leaving you breathless. Readers be prepared to be transported into the lives of unforgettable characters. The plights and uncertainties the main characters endured will pull at your heart strings. The magnetic force between Gray and Daniel is undeniable, resistance makes their connection stronger. The imagery and visualization's was phenomenal, The vivid scenes portrayed is like choreographed snapshots, focusing on the main attraction, enhancing the special suspenseful moments. Lia Fairchild you created a masterpiece when you wrote the Liars Duet. The hypnotic rhythm to your story was done with ease and precision. You will learn to embrace life and all the struggles that comes with it independently. I am in awe reading this enthralling story. You will literally get goose bumps as you read this gem, trust me. Perfection at it finest. I look forward to Liars Book 2 to this series. Do not hesitate to one click five stars guaranteed.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!!!! 27 Feb. 2016

When I first started reading Compulsive, I wasn't sure what to expect. The story of Grey and her life sucked me in. I felt as if I was on this journey with her. Tears of joy when good things happened and tears of sadness when they didn't. Grey dealt with a lot of sadness and hurt at such a young age. The way she dealt with death, I can relate with Grey in so many ways. Sex, drugs , alcohol, and lying were some of the ways she dealt with her pain. Grey was so good at lying that she lied to herself. That was the way she coped with rejection and death. Grey was hurting and couldn't see the people closest to her were there when she needed them. Grey's biggest challenges were forgiving herself and her father for all the heartbreak in her life. In comes Daniel and his family. Grey learns she can trust Daniel and really opens up about her life. She learned lying was not getting her anywhere so she tried the truth. It helped her move on with her life. I can't wait to read more about Grey and Daniel.

I received this book as a gift from the author for an honest review.

This book was awesome!!! Definitely a taboo affair going on here!!! I loved that it wasn't all steam and unrealistic attraction. Gray and Daniel had issues that were handled and addressed. This is a story that makes you feel like there's a solid base to their relationship. It's definitely not all sunshine and fluffy bunnies!!! This story is full of heartbreak... realistic life issues... taboo relationships... coping mechanisms... and true friendship!!! Can't wait to see where this road leads all the characters!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Story 13 Feb. 2016

A beautifully written story with everything, love/heartache/excitement. Gray is a compulsive liar, but loveable. Daniel is her therapist, very professional and very sexy. The slow burn of this story is awesome.
You're pulling for Gray through~out this whole book. She deserves to be happy as she's had such a crap life.
Leave it to Mr. Hottie psychiatrist to pull out all her demons and Make her whole again.
Everyone should read this book.
