I saw this film on ITV when it was aired in 2009 and then went straight out and bought it. I have lost count the amount of times I've watched it. I found it to be a very sexy thriller with unexpected plot twists and an electric performance from the two lead actors. The only slight let down is the ending, though I won't give too much away. Basically, I would have liked things to work out differently, plus there were a couple of loose ends that weren't completely tied up. But because I love this film so much, I'm willing to overlook that. If you want a good, solid night's entertainment, then I can't recommend this highly enough.

“Compulsion” is a movie that was shown on British television (ITV) and released on DVD in 2009. Here is some basic information

** Produced by Steve Matthews
** Directed by Sarah Harding
** Written by Joshua St. Johnston
** Run time: 93 minutes

The cast includes the following:

** Ray Winstone as Don Flowers – the family chauffeur
** Parminder Nagra as Anjika
** James Floyd as Jaiman –Anjika’s brother
** Ben Aldridge as Alex – Anjika’s boyfriend

** Sargon Yelda as Hardik – who hopes to marry Anjika
** Veena Sood as Shriya – Anjika’s mother
** Vincent Ebrahim as Satvik – Anjika’s father
** Emily Watcher as Claire – Anjika’s friend

[“Compulsion” is loosely based on “The Changeling,” a Jacobean drama from 1622 written by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley.]

[I do not wish to spoil the viewing for anyone, so I am not going to reveal too much about what is going on in this movie. I will only tell you how the story begins.]

In the centre of this story we have a wealthy British-Indian family that lives in London. The parents Satvik and Shriya have two children, a son and a daughter. While the son Jaiman is allowed to do almost anything he wants, the daughter Anjika must be controlled. In particular, the parents want to decide who she is going to marry.

The candidate chosen is Hardik, the son of a business connection. Anjika does not want to marry him, because she already has a boyfriend, Alex, but this relationship is a secret. Her parents cannot know about it. The family chauffeur Flowers tells Anjika that he can help her get rid of Hardik, so she can be with her boyfriend, but there is one condition: she has to do something for him; something she absolutely refuses.

A superbly written plot. Winstone plays a passionate and credible man. He is so drawn by passion that the woman's life is not only touched but changed forever.
