We meet Aaron Rives who is a rich, successful business man who works hard and plays harder he is a proper Jack the lad. Aaron has always had a string of beautiful women hanging off his arm but these women mean nothing to him as Aaron has no intention of settling down anytime soon and would rather fill his evenings having meaningless one night stands to keep him satisfied. Little does does he know that his life is going to be turned around and changed forever.
We meet Christa Lanes she hasn't had the easiest way of life with her parents being completely useless right down to her disastrous love life. One day a mysterious hot stranger walks into the coffee shop where Christa works and she has no idea how much this handsome stranger is going to change her life forever. Christa is your typical girl next door, she has a great sense of humour and is a absolute sweetheart. Bless her Christa can hardly believe her luck when this mysterious stranger starts flirting with her and laying on the charm.
Alex on the hand cannot believe that this simple girl who works and owns the café would catch his eye and captivate him so much that he finds himself paying more trips to the coffee shop. Christa is far from Alex's usual type of girl but he has spotted something insider her that he's never noticed before on the previous women he wined, dined and then taken to bed. Over time Alex and Christa begin a relationship and I have to admit it was refreshing to read about a the Jack the lad purely mesmerised by this simple café girl.
In turn is Christa finally going to have some good luck in her life. Alex is determined to get Christa and doesn't care what it takes. There is one thing that Alex doesn't count on is Christa's ex boyfriend arriving back in town. Jared is also wanting his girl back. Its not long before Christa has a decision to make but who will she choose???

“I’m not giving your love back to you, Aaron. You’re taking your love away from me.” ~Christa
As I said, the book begins in heartbreak. Christa thinks she’s found the love of her life, only to have him break her heart. You might think this is the end of the story, but it’s only just the beginning. As soon as he has made his decision, he immediately begins questioning it. One of the reasons I love A.D. Justice is that she adds a bit of mystery to her stories. There is a mystery as to why Aaron has made the decision to leave Christa. Thankfully, he will soon realize his mistake and begin trying to rectify it before he loses everything that is precious to him.
“He watched in slow motion as she reached up, wrapped her small fingers around his large ones, and dragged his hands off her face. The immediate emptiness slammed into him, driving deep into his core. He was losing her, losing his love, possibly even his destiny. Something vitally important was gone instantaneously, something he feared he’d never feel again.” ~Aaron
While I hated the heartache, I loved the story of their romance told in the first half of the book. I was not the biggest Aaron fan. He came across as an egotistical manwhore, BUT Christa changed all of that. To give the devil his due, he was honest about who he was. He didn’t try to hide it from the women or to us, readers. And, I just love when a woman brings a man to his knees. Christa has had her share of pain as well, but she seems to be determined to make her life better. As I read more, I realized Aaron had his share of insecurities. His past really affected his present relationships. Where he was dark, Christa was light.
“She was the light in his dark, dreary world, and he was extinguishing her flame. He couldn’t shake the feeling that was good and pure, and he was the exact opposite. The sins of his past wouldn’t let him forget what he’d done. When it came to his personal relationships, his judgment had been clouded, his heart jaded. He couldn’t trust his decisions or feelings, and he’d learned to bury them over the years.”
With the second half of the book, Justice takes us on Aaron’s quest to get Christa back. But, he will have some competition with Jared, Christa’s childhood friend. This is where it gets really good. Add in the mysterious character who is narrating the first chapter, and you won’t be able to put it down. She is a character in her own right, “buttercup.” This is a well-written romance with all the feels, both sadness and joy. The characters are extremely well-developed. Characters aren’t who they seem in the beginning. I highly recommend this one by A.D. Justice. I’m hoping we will be getting Allie’s story next….fingers crossed.

We meet Christa and Aaron who have had a whirlwind romance but all that comes to a grinding halt in a meeting with his brother Lance. I'm going to be upfront Lance is an idiot a pompous idiot who I wanted to smack, trust me you'll see what I mean when you meet him.
Christa is a sweetheart, she's one of those female characters that you can imagine as a friend because you know she would be on your side. When she meets Aaron she's wary and doesn't want to get involved with the successful business man but he's persistent and they fall in love.
Aaron disappointed me at first as he lets his brother manipulate and influence him I just wanted him to tell Lance to but out. Then there is Jared her longtime crush who comes back into her life just as things start to go drastically wrong. I liked Jared but he does make some really stupid decisions.
Overall this was a good solid romance with characters you will be hoping they can make it work
