Format: Spiral-bound
This is a great project based approach to starting painting with watercolours.
The first section on materials etc., which in quite a number of introductory books occupies a considerable amount of space, is kept to a minimum.
There are 12 weekend projects so you can practice the skills needed to follow through to a completed picture.
All of the projects could be adapted to reflect your individual style as it develops.
The secondhand copy I bought was in very good condition & excellent value.

I found the book quite useful, but it did not go into depth enough and my results weren't very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this book 16 Dec. 2008
By M. A. Christenson - Published on Amazon.com

I purchased several watercolor books to help me improve what I learned in class. This book is the best by far! Not only is it in spiral form- which lets you see while doing the lesson, but it separates the different things like shading, mixing colors, and how to's so you can pick what you want to learn and concentrate on that subject alone. Recommend for anyone who is wanting to learn to paint with watercolor.

5.0 out of 5 stars COMPLETE book 19 Mar. 2012
By tink - Published on Amazon.com

This is a great instructional book. I really could learn watercolors in a weekend! I am already a painter and bought it to see IF there was any more information that I don't know. And I wish I had this book a long time ago. I bet I could have learned watercolor painting without a teacher ! There certainly IS a lot of information.

Wish I had found this book when I was first starting with watercolors. I could have saved a lot of money on supplies and moved along more quickly with learning the basics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding 23 Sept. 2011
By P. Adams - Published on Amazon.com

This book was so informative and such a pleasure to go through. The explanations of how to create exciting paintings with watercolor was certainly worth the purchase price. I think I will be using this reference over and over again, and will continue to learn new things as I progress with this medium.

Very well written, easy to follow and fun to complete painting projects for beginners. Have taken two different classes from local artists and this far surpasses those classes.
