The title speaks the truth. The book is a lavish and exhaustive exploration of pleating and its applications – the motherlode. If you know a little about origami, then you will be comfortably familiar with Paul Jackson’s pleating method. He breaks the process down into mountain folds, valley folds, and also universal folds (which bend both ways). Line illustrations in two – or more – colours are provided with directional arrows when required. An excellent accompanying DVD runs you through the pleating paces step-by-step.
All of the pleating techniques in the book are illustrated in paper – but the method can be applied throughout the design world, and myriad photographic examples are given.
This superb title is suitable for hobbyists – papercrafters in particular – as well as students of design.
