Product Description

Review

"Whether you need help distinguishing a niddy-noddy from a nostepinne or are able to give Rumpelstiltskin a run for his money, you'll find something of itnerest in this impressive reference. Spinning is covered soup to nuts in ways expected...and with a new twist (specifically, the "recipe" chapter, discussing the raw "ingredients" needed to create a host of interesting blends, weights, and colorways....) [N]ewbies are given introductory advice; and experts are challenged to stretch their skills." ---"Yarn Market News" "Calling anything a complete guide sets reader expectations high, but happily this book really covers a lot and does it well.... Overall, this is a very good book for beginning spinners, especially for those interested in using a spinning wheel, and its technique and recipe sections have lots of ideas for inttermediate spinners like myself to explore." ---Cindy K., "Knitcircus
""[Y]ou will increase your knowledge and understanding of the ins and outs of spinning.... If you have wanted to learn to make your own hand spun or increase your skills, pick this book up and give it a spin." ---Paula Moliver, examiner.com

This is the second book that I buy about dying and it does add a whole new angle. The first book was more about the actual spinning while this concentrates on the yarn and how to make different types of yarn using different techniques of spinning. It is very good for beginners as soon as the basics have been mastered.

After a few years away from working with wool, this book was just what I needed to refresh my enthusiasm. It covers a variety of fibres and spinning techniques with some wonderful recipes for textures, and colour blends which I am able to order from my supplier until I can set up my own dye-pot again. From Go to Woah the many colour illustrations are most encouraging and informative.

This book is want everyone needs when looking up terms and techniques.

If you need in-depth explanations then it is time to buy a book on the particular topic. I find the DVD's from Interweave to be much better than any book.

The strength of this book is that no matter how yarn savvy one me be there is always something new or old that is missing from one's repertoire.

For anyone that really has no intention of spinning or dying, you are still bound to run across the occasional term in your reading. Do not gloss over the term look it up in this book and add to your reading pleasure.

If you do not want anyone touching your Niddy noddy you better know where it is.

The pictures and diagrams are worth the purchase alone.
