To be honest, I was really sceptical of self-help books, I was suffering from anxiety and had had some counselling and they had worked great but I didn't want to become dependant on counselling and peoples opinions around me. I went to waterstone knowing nothing and they pointed to three. the reason I chose this book specifically was because it had a chapter on dealing with bullies unlike the other two.
Don't get me wrong, I was still sceptical, I always find books with people's faces on the back some what annoying, which may be an unfair judgement, but they irritate me because they seemed egotistical.
Thankfully, I was wrong. the book has many uses, sure, it helps you look at your own behaviour in a simple but not condescending way but it also helps you see how other people act as well. I already pointed out two peoples behaviour and made them read the chapter associated with it and one of them wants to borrow my copy!!!
I think what's also good about this book is that in this day and age when everyone wants to be with ill with something and want their feelings to disappear with a pill and the "professionals" can sometimes be somewhat eager, she makes the point that it is down to us to sort our lives out. its refreshing. I always thought i was intuitive about my behaviour but it helped me realise some home truths about myself.
She also uses case studies, i.e. real patients of hers who relate to the subject she was talking about which makes you sometimes think "wow, thats kinda life me" and also says of how they sorted their lives out.
I would highly reccoment this book to anyone.

I wanted a detailed yet to the point book on improving my confidence. I spent a while to look for the right one. I came across this whilst on my mobile smartphone. As a result i purchased this from Amazon. I am currently reading this and I must say it's exactly what I am looking for; a book that is straight to the point and more importantly seems to know exactly how i feel and as you will realize as I am now; its about your confidence and our feelings are the trouble.

A very good book that will hugely help in all aspects of your life; be it your normal job, improving yourself and your skills in sports and how you communicate with people.

Having been a huge fan of Complete Confidence the first edition, I snapped this up, too. I was not disappointed. Although there are some important enhancements, the message is the same: you can take control of the negative feelings that hold you back in life. And the revolutionary part is that Dr. Hankin actually tells you how, with concrete steps, you may do so. I really cannot begin to say how much the information in this book has helped me. I strongly recommend it.

I first bought this book about a year ago and found it very helpful. I even gave copies to my adult children. Yesterday I downloaded the revised kindle version and am blown away again by how powerful the messages are and how practical the steps are for making small changes that can have a huge effect on your life. I'm going to read it again and again.

Loved this book, which is easy to read and well written. Whats powerful about it is a series of eye opening truths that enables you to look at your own behavior and make small adjustments which are liberating and make life so so much easier. My quality of life has improved dramatically after I have changed just some small things about my own behaviors. I think it should be required reading for young adults so you can avoid mistakes early on, worthwhile reading for everyone. Cannot recommend this book more, if you are going to read anything at all, read this!
