The addition of the US Forces and the German Oberkommando West brings two entirely unique factions that will forever change the shape of multiplayer combat. Each Army has distinctive tactical gameplay options, new infantry, team weapons, vehicles, abilities and upgrades on a total of eight seasonal multiplayer maps set on the Western Front. The game occupies the middle ground between the (superb) Close Combat and the (frankly tosh) Command and Conquer series. The game play follows the Command and Conquer style of building everything you can and throwing it at the enemy, wearing him down so that effectively it becomes a battle of resources. (So not unlike a real war I guess?) I have a feww issues with the game as I prefer a 'simulation' style, where you have a set Order of Battle at the start, as opposed to this game where you 'manufacture' units as you want, if you can afford them. So there's less of an incentive to protect units when you can simply build new ones. Instead of thinking 'gotta be careful with this Sherman, I only have three in my OB' it's more 'damn, lost another tank, better build more'. This gives you great flexibility, but simulation it ain't. That's before you see how fast the units 'arrive'. In the game, minutes, in real life who knows?
But all that said, this is a fun game that looks brilliant and will give you many happy hours of pleasure. You could list it's shortcomings for ages or you could just do yourself a favour and enjoy it.
