This is Not a book for Everyone!! The Author himself stresses over and over again not to get involved in this art unless you first have a solid grounding in the fundamentals of "basic magic". This book gives an excellent introduction to the art of Necromancy and is full of exercises to do to contact the Spirits of the Dead. This is not a Hollywood rendition of Necromancy, nor is it the "Satanic Demon Possession", and "Dark Arts" we have been warned of by overzealous, fanatical preachers of righteousness. After reading this book you will come away with a clear understanding of what Necromancy is, (and is not). Gone are the "Thees and Thous" of some other necromanic manuscripts I have seen. This is in modern, plain, everyday English. Chapters include: Magic and Spirits of the Dead, Personal Characteristics of a Necromancer, Meeting Your Ancestral Spirits, Obtaining a Divinatory Spirit, Advanced Summoning, as well as chapters on "Operative Spirits", "Working Spirits", and even a chapter on "Writing the Silent Dead". You will gain valuable information on "spiritual protocal" the hierarchal workings of the Spirit World as well as the "temperments" of Spirit Beings. You will want to read this book before venturing into the land of Necromania. This book includes Incense Recipes and even gives instructions on Moving Spirits of the Dead from Place to Place. I gained a healthy respect for this practice and and fuller understanding of how a lot of normal people practice this art without even realizing it. Ancestral Spirits, Shrines, it's all here. An easy read, from "Teacher" to "Student". With patience you will learn "True Necromancy!!!"

If you are not fortunate enough to find a real teacher in any of the traditional necromantic practices that exists in the magical systems of every culture around the world, this book is the only one in print that shows one path to this.
It is a practical manual without any lacking compensated by mystical drama and colorful wrapping paper. It does not include corpse animation, sleeping in graves with skulls painted on your forehead and a bone through your nose and alike. If you are not familiar with the common ways of working with the dead, this book will present the backbone and the core of a somewhat advanced form of ancestral veneration. If you would like to learn a magical practice it takes more than a weekend and this book talks about years of daily activities.
This book shows the reality of necromantic art, rather than what many people would like it to be. So if you are interested in this practice or just curious of what necromancy are all about, this book will give you a very good idea and an accurate understanding of the concept.

Although I disagree with this being called Necomancy working, it is a very good piece of text on spirit and ancestor woreship, offering gifts and food. mr Coleman seems to have researched this topic very well reminding me of practises from Africa, Mexico, South America, Tailand and acient China when such things where part of daily routine. Although This text is VERY different to ancient Necromancy practised in the middle east and europe where spirits of the dead are supposed to inhabbit skulls and corpses, using them as a means to communicate with the living. Even with this point he still touches the subject of 'talking heads' and spirits communication and with the accounts of the practioner included it makes whole book far more interesting.
