Schlesinger's series covering "The Age of Roosevelt" was published less than twenty years after FDR's death. Not much revisionist history, and the author subtly reveals his affection for his subject. But an argument could be made that Franklin Roosevelt may have been among the most transformative of American presidents, and in this volume (covering the early New Deal) readers are transported back to some of the darkest days in our history. It's good reading, and a cogent reminder that many of the issues that bedevil our politics today are not of new origin.

Way too long to read, especially with small print. Guess because I am older it was just way too much to read.
