'To mark the company's twentieth anniversary, founder Cath Kidston describes her past life in this simple yet charming book, which is amply illustrated with patterns, designs and photographs. About the Author
One of Britain's leading and most loved designers, Cath Kidston is best known for her vintage-inspired homewares, clothing and accessories including Cath Kidston bags and purses. Cath began her career as an interior designer before opening her first retail shop in London in 1993, where she sold vintage fabrics and antique furniture. Now with more than 40 stores and concessions in the UK, plus more in the Republic of Ireland, Japan and South Korea, Cath Kidston Ltd is now a presence on almost every high street. In 2010, Cath was awarded an MBE in recognition of her services to business. To date, Cath has published four bestselling project books - Make!, Sew!, Stitch! and Patch! - that encompass a wide range of disciplines and finished items, from sewing and patchwork to cross stitch and needlepoint. Alongside these books sit two complete kits packaged in a unique tin - The Knitting Book and The Crochet Book are perfect for beginner knitters or crocheters and make ideal gifts. In addition to her books, Cath also has a very successful stationery line (also published by Quadrille).

The 5th star is lacking in colour because of the way I felt drawn in to the whole Cath Kidston story, living it as though I were there and then suddenly being thrown back to the third person perspective.
However getting over the structure, the story is both inspirational and informative.
I love the end quote "when you're self taught you always worry that you will be found out"
and the idea that "gut instinct around your business is as good as any formal training."
A great read for anyone interested in branching into or through the creative minefield.
A great book to read even if you are just a fan of the brand. It'll make you look at the shops with a new perspective.
Personally I can take it or leave it but the ladies love all that twee stuff and it's cost me a fortune over the years. But it does put a smile on her who is to be obeyed face, well worth it just for that.
