There are some classics which it was wonderful to see again - the "poor contest" was terrifically covered, but I wondered at the choice of the Monty Python representative from the "Holy Grail". With so many brilliant sketches (the Ministry of Silly Walks and the parrot and cheese ones spring to mind), why choose that one??
Overall, a disappointment to me, but still possibly worth buying for the good stuff. If only we could erase the bits we didn't like!
greatest liar in the world to call this "The Best Comedy DVD in the World." I'm glad I bought it,
though, only for the reason that money went to Unicef.
Including The Office, Little Britain, Four Weddings, Pink Panther, Wallace & Grommit, Monty Python, Lily Savage, Rising Damp, Ricky Gervais, Eddy Izzard, Royale Family, Bo Selecta, Fawlty Towers, Bob Hope, Jack Dee, Carry On Films, Laurel and Hardy, Alf Garnet, Creature Comforts, Liar Liar, The Producers, On The Beat, The Blues Brothers, Tommy Cooper, Taxi, Jimmy Carr, Men Behaving Badly, Father Ted, Have I Got News For You, American Pie and many many many more all on this DVD.
The Tsunami may be no laughing matter but just buying this will help someone or some-people, an average of £8 out of £9.99 will go to UNICEF UK to try and raise 1 million pounds for the appeal. So take my advice and BUY IT!!!
Though not many people wll like every single thing on this DVD it is definitely worth it, if you are a real comedy fan you will like at least half of this. Also this is an opportunity to try new comedies e.g. I already liked most things on this DVD, like Peter Kay, Ricky Gervais, Bo Selecta , Little Britain, The Office and things like this but now due to the DVD's clip of him I like Jimmy Carr (and have bought his DVD)and I now can see the appeal of Laurel & Hardy.
This is so fun to watch it is unbelievable. I only got it yesterday and I have already watched twice. It is just so funny and the fact that all of the companys donated all of these clips for free is heart-warming. You will be saving people's lives just by laughing and that will make you feel great. There are some really funny clips on this show it is just fantastic.
Everyone in the world should buy this DVD there is no reason why not to. BUY IT.
I can only imagine it's because there is a lot of older comedy clips on it, rather than it being packed with modern tosh such as Bo Selecta and Ali G.
If you're a Python fan, though, there is a lot to offer you here. Fawlty Towers (Mrs Richards!), the Holy Grail (Only a flesh wound!), and many more. Even the original (not the "And now time for something completely different" version) Four Yorkshiremen Sketch is here, my personal favourite.
Other old fevourites, such as Kenny Everett, Rising Damp, Carry on Camping, and the village tea rooms scene from Withnail and I appear as well.
To be honest, I have most of them on dvd, anyway. But how often do you dig all the dvds on watch selected scenes from them?
And, you're making a contribution to charity.
