I remember hearing an interview with Judy Carmichael on BBC radio around six years ago when Come And Get It was released. It's taken me all this time to get around to buying the album. This is the first album by Judy to feature her on vocals and Judy doesn't disappoint. For a first time vocalist her singing is fantastic, with touches of Peggy Lee mixed in with maybe a little Diana Krall on the side, but Judy does have her own voice. Not every track has Judy on vocal and when she's not singing she's hitting those keys. Judy is a master of stride piano, a variation of rag-time that I defy anybody who loves this style of music to not be tapping their feet too in accompaniment.

5.0 out of 5 stars No chance to be second-rate 9 April 2012

Peggy Lee, you're not the only one who can stun with your voice. Anyone who knows of Judy Carmichael, her excellence and reputation for stride jazz, will also know that any project she does will be sizzling. And who could have guessed that this talented woman sang with precision and allure. You close your eyes on a few of these numbers and you hear enough of Ms. Lee to know that Ms. Carmichael comes from within the song to delight and to entice. However, I saw Ms. Carmichael perform a few of these numbers live; that's where the verve really puts out the good vibes. This album, however, is a very close second.
