A major criticism of the Foo Fighters' self-titled debut was its supposed lack of, you know, passion among the well-crafted songs and well-crafted rock. This time out, if it's wreckage you want, it's wreckage you get. The Colour and the Shape grows deeper the more it's played, with the band's ripping power more than matched by Dave Grohl's fascinating examinations of pain and divorce. There is even a convincing long slow ballad, "November Stars", whose intensity should win over doubters. If that doesn't work, then the screaming "My Hero" will. --Rickey Wright

I could reel of a mile long list of superlatives about this awesome offering, but really it'd be a bit superfluous.

Just buy this and listen to it - that's all the explanation you'll need to grasp what a truly awesome collection of tunes this is.

100% fabulous

Being rock and metal fan for 26 eara, recently tried the Foo Fighters music properly recently after seeing some of their music video's over the years. And surprised how good their music is, and this is coming from diverse music fan who likes Iron Maiden, Ac/Dc, Europe, Whitesnake etc.

I dont think 1,000 words is enough to describe the awsomeness of this album,so rather than babble on i'll try to be brief. After Dave Grohl leaving Nirvana he has moved on to bigger and much much better things. The lyrics are incredible and even if you're not a huge Foo fan you will be impressed. The contrast of music is amazing, with a slow ballad (Doll) opening the album and leading into the racy Monkey Wrench afterwards you will listen to the album with enthusiastic intent. My personal favourite on the album is Hey,Johny Park! and my only complaint is that there's not enough of that wonderfull guitar solo by Grohl. The vocals aby Dave are incredible, with the calm, tranquil chords on Doll and yet the hugely powerful screaming (not at all gratuitous) in Enough Space and Monkey Wrench.
