"This second edition has expanded considerably its predecessor and the main differences are the frequent use of radiographs, CT and MRI scans, brief clinical notes to highlight the more significant areas and also access to an on-line resource and self-assessment tests. At over 500 pages the book is extremely comprehensive and the authors are to be applauded for their meticulous attention to detail. (...) I would foresee that this book will be an essential purchase of all veterinary pre-clinical students and should also find its way onto the shelves of most practice libraries." - Tim Hutchinson, BVSc CertSAS MRCVS; European Journal of Companion Animal Practice, October 2009
"This atlas is a valuable teaching tool for canine anatomy in conjunction with other sources. With its reasonable price, there is little doubt it will gain many friends among veterinary students." Vet Record, May 2010
''The atlas offers regional and topographical anatomy in full colour images with the support of beautiful drawings labelled in full detailswith a nomenclature based on Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria. Dissections of the cadavers are viewed from the surface inward. The use of embalmed cadavers lacks realism, but it is helpful to study the topographical relationship between different anatomical structures.'' Simona T. Radaelli

There is little text, which is probably a good thing as the book is let down by the quality of the text. It's almost as though someone suddenly realised that chapter introductions were needed and jotted down a few things they could remember about 'The Head', 'The Thorax' and so on. This is a pity because there is some information relevant to practice here but it's so poorly written and put together (and often so superficial as to be of little use) that it simply annoys rather than informs. Good editing and proofreading would have helped.
Many of the illustrations are very detailed but reproduced at such a small size that they become complicated to decipher - it might have been better to reduce the size of the dissection photos. It was also mildly disappointing to find that US spelling was used but that is a minor matter.
So, a useful book (and better in most respects than the text-heavy anatomy tomes of old) but could be better (and at this price, it should be!).
Clear and precise. Very easy to understand.
Not cheap being a specialist book, but it's an absolute must purchase if you're studying canine anatomy or massage.
Very highly recommended.
Buy this book!
The only thing that I think could be improved would be making the pages A4 size rather than slightly larger than A4 like they are as I find it useful to photocopy the pages I need to use in dissections so as not to get the book dirty and it is annoying that you can't fit a page easily on an A4 sheet.
Despite this I would thoroughly recommend this book and am planning to get the other two in the series.
A very useful guide to learn anatomy!
