Theodore Roosevelt and his youngest son

It is common knowledge that Teddy Roosevelt was a complicated man and this book will only add to that perception. What other president would interrupt a meeting with a foreign ambassador to play with his young son and his friends? In the early days of the 20th century the United States was just emerging as a world power but there was still an incredible sense of innocence in Washington. Can anyone picture a group of young boys having easy entrance and actual run of the White House in today's world? This book was a best seller in the 1920's and the author was Earle Looker who was a boyhood friend of Quentin Roosevelt and, of course, one of the White House gang. The present version has been edited and updated by Looker's grandson, Arthur Mitchell. His additions are useful in that they complete the picture of many of the individuals mentioned in the original tale. For those interested in the history of the first 25 years of the United States in the 20th century, it is an enjoyable read.
